Nintendo Power
Pokemon Power
With the release of Pokemon Red and Blue for the Game Boy, from Volume 111-117, Nintendo Power included 6 mini-issues of Pokemon Power inside their magazine. The first half of each volume featured part of the Pokemon Red and Blue walkthrough, while the second half had a comic based on an episode of the anime. During its run, the first 6 episodes of the anime had comics.
PokeCenter
First introduced as a recurring department in Volume 119 (April 1999) of Nintendo Power due to the overwhelming popularity of Pokemon and previous success of Pokemon Power, the PokeCenter was added to primarily cover Pokemon news and updates, answer questions from Pokemon fans regarding the video games (PokeChat), and showcase Pokemon artwork sent in by fans of the show (Pokemon Gallery). The first volume the section only consisted of two pages; however, over the years the PokeCenter would be expanded to as many as 8 pages with the addition of several new monthly sections, such as Colosseum, Pokemon University, Hot off the Press, Card Colosseum, and Colosseum Connection to name a few. It would even be absent from a few volumes due to the Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire walkthrough, which took up as many as 10 pages.
The PokeCenter seemed to do well after the release of Pokemon Gold and Silver, as it was consistently 5 pages in length with a Pokemon comic book included. However, after the games were out for a while, the department eventually only had a single page dedicated to it. With the release of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, it helped Pokemon gain popularity; thus, the PokeCenter was back to being 5 pages on some occasions. After Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire the department seemed to die. Volume 192 (June 2005) was the last appearance of the PokeCenter department, as in Volume 193 (July 2005) the PokeCenter was merged with several other departments due to Pokemon's dwindling popularity, ending a streak of over 5 years of appearing as a monthly department in Nintendo Power.
