Back in Japan, Pokemon was originally released in 2 games: Pokemon Green and Red, but in North America and everywhere else, Pokemon Red and Blue were first released. Few people know this, but the North American Blue version is the same as the Japanese Green version. In Japan, their third release, Pocket Monsters Blue version, was quite unique in comparison to the original Red and Green, and also different from the English versions, as well.
Some main differences in the Japanese Blue included the Pokemon pictures being totally redone to look a lot better and Pokémon could be found in places that they originally weren't in in the Red and Green versions. Dittos were added to the Rock Tunnel and Lickitung could be caught in the wild. The Unknown Dungeon was also totally redone with an all new layout used the in the English versions of the game.
This game is probably never going to come to North American borders, but why should it? I mean it's just a lower down version of the games we know now, so that's why it was never translated. If you really want you could download this game in Japanese or translated and try it out as a Rom.
Pros:
- Bulbasaur finally has a game that it stars in
- Another Pokemon adventure to take part in
- Pokemon are found in different areas
Cons:
- Worse graphics than Pokemon Red/Blue
- Not better than Pokemon Red/Blue
