GSDS: G/S Remake
This is probably the most discussed form of speculation in the entire Pokemon community. And, I, as enough people know, am very much in support of it, and also enjoy the speculation myself. Anyway, I'm curious what everyone exactly thinks of the below information, if they have any more information to support it, and information to disprove it, and if you want it or not.
Contextual Evidence
Contextual evidence is, for the most part, the most fabricated form of evidence for a remake. Obviously references to the Johto region in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum may simply be to give a little extra fun for those who have played the old game, or to detail a little of the history of the Pokemon series. On the other hand, it could be to give people a background of the region to prepare them for the remake. The final piece listed here actually bears much more factuality than other pieces of text.
1.) Professor Oak gives the "Dubious Disk" to the player after beating the Elite Four. He says he received it from an aquaintice, and if GS and DP take place at the same time, then it would be logical that Gold/Crys from Gold and Silver had just sent it to him after receiving it shortly after beating the Kanto elite four themselves.
2.) Professor Elm is frequently mentioned throughout the story as having first discovered eggs. In Platinum, he is also quoted as having said the universe was born from an egg.
3.) Both Professor Elm and Professor Rowan study evolution. There are also many more Johto Pokemon with evolutions in Generation 4. And, since Prof. Rowan mentions that 90% of Pokemon having evolutions, this could play in nicely with a Johto remake plot.
4.) Professor Oak, during the Shaymin event, mentions a white rock similar to that one in Kanto. However, it does not exist in R/B/Y, G/S/C, or FR/LG. This means, however, that it could exist in a Johto remake.
Legal Evidence
Legal evidence is fairly strong standing. This is where Nintendo prepares for a remake by filing the neccessary documents for really any game. A lot of the docs, after all, are very public.
1.) Nintendo has registered the names "White Gold", "Dusk Gold", and "Dawn Silver" as trademarks. These all make sense for a potential remake.
Game Element Evidence
D/P/P In-Game Evidence
The fourth generation games have many pieces of in-game evidence that support that a remake was at least being considered. This is the true evidence that means that a remake is very possible.
1.) Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum have the neccessary in-game trading data to support a remake. It is shown that by hacking a Pokemon's Hex Data (keep in mind you can't enter a custom message with hex, or if you were, you'd be very limited) you can have a Pokemon display that it were obtained from Johto. It also has the data for tranfer from Kanto, Hoenn, and Orre, the latter being for trade with Pokemon Ranger, which is required to obtain Manaphy.
2.) As of Pokemon Platinum, it is very possible to get the Kanto Birds and the Hoenn Golems through in-game scripts. However, no such data exists for the Johto Dogs. Similarly, there are also no scripts to obtain, even though an event (though direct transfer is still possible), Mewtwo, Mew, Jirachu, Deoxys, Celebi, Groudon, Rayquaza, or Kyrogre. It is possible that these Pokemon actually do have events in Pokemon Platinum, however they would have almost definately already been found. Keep in mind that these Pokemon will doubtfully have events in GSDS, either, and are rather just being noted for contrast.
