If you think that's bad... play Diamond and Pearl for a while, then switch to the GBA games. Even the basic overworld sprites are drastically different.
What exactly do you define as quality? Not to rant, but I have to seriously disagree on what your saying. I have always found the effects that Emerald (as I've never played the other) to be a great demonstration of what a Gameboy Advance is capable of. I have also found that when using cheats on Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald there is much more stability, not on how it corrupts your game, but the ease of removing a cheat. This often shows much more stability in a game. Plus, the game play and extensiveness of Emerald are simply awesome, where Firered and Leafgreen are just an old Gameboy Game - Glitches + Minor New Areas + Better Graphics.
To go a little more off topic I can never compare a game by its graphics, rather gameplay. To this day I find it hard to play Diamond more than once a year because it bores me, while with Gold I will often play it once every three months, twice in the summer.

ZamFights Beta should come around Christmas, now.
Spoiler Alert:ZamFights Progress

ZamFights, a Pokemon Mass Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, developed by Pokezam's Webmaster Freezewarp, continues its development into Alpha 7, where you can trade Pokemon with a global trade station like feature and battle other trainers. Several bugs were also fixed.
Alpha 9, now in development, will feature numerous events and locations to go to, that is up to Fuschia. It will also feature the new, interactive map, numerous minor features, and an altered look.
Alpha 9 should come around Thanksgiving, and Alpha 10, or the public Beta, should come around Christmas.
Alpha 8 Preview
I actually like the idea of a sixth generation Pokemon Emerald remix; few people think of the possibilities that one game has in full, colorful, barely pixaleted 3-D (in other words, think of a Play Station 2 or Xbox Original). The existing 3D we have with the DS is good, but the next generation of handheld consoles should give much more detail to the game - imagine being able to change your perspective to look into the sky while the stormcloud is slowly stretching across the region once Kyogre and Groudon have both been awoken. Imagine seeing the sky tower, and a green tail, to the left, and mirages to the right. For that matter, think of Mirage Island!
There are so many other moments for which we could experience in perspective-3D Pokemon Emerald; the battle frontier is one example, but just seeing the sun rise and set as the time passes in Dewford city would be awesome. Of course, my dreams may be more than one generation away; are there any Wii games that even would make this real?
Aah... I would love to play Gold. But all Gold, Silver, and Crystal's batteries died, and I misplaced my GBA, so wahh... If you're going to talk about graphics, you might as well focus on the evolution of them. I remember when Red and Blue were out, that Charmeleon looked like Barney the Dinosaur with a horn on his head from the back. xD
Ah. Now if Pokemon were mental enough to make Charmeleon purple, then I'd ditch the Pokemon for something. Anything that would be better that a Barney-resembled Pokemon. xD
I already lost the game. Can't find it in this three-story house. Thankfully, we're moving so I'll be able to find it along with my LeafGreen game, and maybe my Crystal game. (The last time I found my Crystal game, it was on the room of my old house. xDD O.o) <3
The graphic styles were just a bit different between the two regions; I assume this one was in FireRed and LeafGreen to make the overworld sprites look smaller like in Red and Green.
