Useful?: Fairly, though not for people who don't want to pay phone bills.

For: Compressing/Uncompressing Files
Useful?: Very
Detailed Description: Can Compress or Uncompress almost any file type. Windows can only uncompress and compress the .zip type, this can do 100 times that!

Could I add to this that:
7-zip is very usefull as a multi-platform archive manager,
NotePad++ is a GREAT Notepad replacement
and Blender 3D is usefull for 3D graphics, CG and CGI.
