Which Attack?! -Pokemon Attack Discussion-
I wanted to start this on one main question: Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, or Poison Powder!? I always have a tough time choosing, mainly on Butterfree or Oddish. So... which is better: Sleep, Stun or Poison?
I'd have to say Sleep first, Poison in a close second, and Stun in third.
After this query is answered, we can discuss other Pokemon attacks.

Stun spore is the best for catching pokemon, as it doesn't wear off in turns, slows down the opponent and has a chance of wasting turns. Poison Powder is second for me, as it drains HP, but I'd prefer Toxic over it (worsens over time). Sleep Powder is third, since it doesn't always hit and wears off after a while.

Yeah. I was mainly talking about those Pokemon that learn all three attacks "all at once" like Butterfree (Lvs 13, 14 ,15) and Oddish (Lvs 14, 16, 18). I know more attacks are better then those. Toxic > Poison Powder ; Thunder Wave > Stun Spore ; Sing > Sleep Powder. Haha.

XP If you're planning on sticking with Oddish permanently, or even semi-permentantly (or ****, just through Misty), I'd say Stun Spore, just because it can give you edge in speed. Butterfree, maybe Poison Powder, just to give it an extra thing to worry about.

*nods* My Butterfree's getting the boot once I get a Nidoran(M). I can use Ranny's Poison Sting, and Poison Point to inflict pain. >=D

Bwahaha, the Nidoran pwns all!! *power-drunken laugh*
Well, this is sorta an attack-related question: Do Pokemon only have four attacks in the anime? I rarely watch it and when I do, I don't pay that much attnetion. XP I really just need to know for my ficcage.

That's something I've been trying to watch for. As far as I can see, yes... although Pikachu can get away with maybe five. :P Remember that "School of Hard Knocks" episode? Pikachu used Bite, but ... it never offically learns it. The anime is weird.

Pokemon in the anime have more than 5 attacks. For example Ash's Sceptile knows Bullet Seed, Quick Attack, Slam or Pound/ Leaf Blade and Solarbeam. However some of these attacks are a one off thing like Pikachu's Bite. Its probably because of the generation change and that Pikachu forgot the attack eventually.

No. Pikachu can never learn Bite. You can't get to a level and learn it.... sadly. On Sceptile, I think he did forget some. You can't get a Pokemon, especially from a Treecko, and let him have that set moveset the entire series. That'll get boring.
