Pokemon Patent - Pokemon Ranch Channel

Nintendo has filed a bunch of new patents for various games and upcoming projects. One of those patents is a Pokemon patent - Pokemon Bokujô Channel, which translates from Japanese as Pokemon Ranch Channel. First revealed at a Nintendo press conference this fall, this game allows players to transfer their Pokemon to the universe of Mii (characters exclusively on the Wii) on their Nintendo Wii and raise their Pokemon on a ranch. This title will be exclusively available for purchase through the WiiWare portion of the Wii Shop. Below is the video clip shown at the press conference.

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Starting in 2001, it has been a yearly tradition for the Pikachu balloon to be flown in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade each year. The original Pikachu float was flown from 2001 until its retirement in 2005. The Pikachu with Poke Ball float balloon that was introduced last year was flown again this year.

Parading Around

Usually there's a chill in the air, but last Thursday the signs of winter were nowhere to be found as the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade made its annual trip in New York City down the storied canyons of Boradway! The streets were lined with happy spectators and we were there too, to cheer on the Pikachu balloon as it made its way from the Upper West Side of Manhattan down to Macy's on 34th Street.

With a beautiful blue sky and temperatures in the high 50's, everyone was in good spirits, from the Broadway performers who danced in Heralds Square, to the clowns that waved to the crowds, to the balloon handlers that carried Pikachu and other characters through the air. The clear weather offered excellent views of all the balloons, and Pikachu certainly looked fantastic as it made its way past skyscrapers and trees, whether you were watching on television or in person. For those who may have missed it, we tooks lots of pictures for you to enjoy, and we hope to see you next year!

Pokemon Battrio a Success in Japan

Released earlier this year by toy manufacturer Takara Tomy, Pokemon Battrio has been a smash hit with Pokemon players in Japan. How the game works is that players each get a puck for ¥100 (US $0.83). The pucks are then scanned and placed on the game board. Players are permitted to use up to three pucks on a board. The pucks are then strategically moved around the board with some formations, such as a triangle, strengthening certain Pokemon. For each turn, the field randomly selects a Pokemon puck to play the next turn. The two players battle it out in similar fashion to a card game to see who comes out victorious. Pokemon Battrio games are located anywhere from game centers, toy stores and shopping all over Japan. It will be interesting to see if Pokemon Battrio is released in North America.

Was this Pikachu balloon the one with sparking cheeks?
I feel so bad. I was waiting on the parade and I missed it!
When I realized it, I nearly cried.
