I've been thinking for the past while about what reasons leading to GSDS, including some of the big kickers, may have actually been invalidated with the actual event. Although it has obviously happened, GSDS is here, does it actually conform to many of the common points?

Note: This post isn't quite complete yet.

"Johto" Trade Data (False)
This was actually one of the points that was considered the "big" kicker. It showed the most promise that there would be a remake, yet now it appears as though it was, in-fact, left-over data. HeartGold and SoulSilver, when trading Pokemon, will instead show "Far-Away Land".

Absence of Johto Legendaries (True)
This point actually was right on the money. The 4th generation failed to include many Johto, Kanto, and Hoenn Pokemon, yet now the starters, the legendaries, the everything else has been completed with HGSS.

White Rock (We'll See)
During the Shaymin event, Prof. Oak mentioned a "White Rock" in Kanto. Yet, none existed. We now have the game, however no confirmation of such a rock has been given. Does it exist, still? I'm sure we'll find out soon - it could be in an unexplored event, or none of those playing the Japanese games have played any mind.

Red Gyarados on the News (True)
This, interestingly, appeared right at the beginning of D/P. Now, with the Red Gyarados having returned, it appears quite valid.

Legendary Birds in Platinum (False)
This one was, to my surprise, proven wrong, as HGSS includes the birds as well, instead of referencing that they were in Sinnou.

Unused Shellos (We'll See)
The unused Shellos sprites in D/P never were very strong pieces of evidence, and as of now, can't be confirmed or denied. I would imagine they are not used now, but its possible they will be when you battle with a friend owning D/P.

Stock Art (True)
Yup, this one seems to have been proven right. Previously, stock art for some Johto Pokemon was absence in DPP, now its back with HGSS.

Trademarks (False)
Several trademarks were registered by Nintendo that would make sense, including "Pokemon White Gold". However, instead different names, "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver" were used, so false.

Comments?

The best evidence is the absence of the legendary dogs in Platinum and the Red Gyarados being put on television. But the others...I have no idea about them.

Why did they do that anyways?!

Also, we can even speculate that the absence of Celebi might've been an evidence that there would've been a remake coming soon.

Why did they do that anyways?!

Simply, because the Platinum game card cannot read the HG/SS location because it isn't inserted in its memory, just like when you send the Giratina from Platinum to D/P, they will tell you that the location of Giratina is from a faraway place becasue D/P can't read the location of the Distortion World.

But really, why is Johto information not registered in D/P/Pt?
That is confusing me.

Maybe because when they released Platinum, they didn't decide to have HG/SS that time.

-.-

"An initial rumor started in early May 2009 that Nintendo was planning a remake of Pokémon Gold and Silver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Gold_and_Silver) after the Japanese television show Pokémon Sunday (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Sunday) ended by announcing a "world-exclusive first announcement" that would be made on its next show."

So? Platinum was released on March 2009.

But they had the idea even before Platinum was released.

Most probably, but maybe they weren't sure so they didn't add HG/SS information to Platinum.

Well, I was kinda expecting Johto's information to be visible in Platinum at least.
But oh well...

Who cares?! The most important thing is that we can trade from D/P/Pt to HG/SS.

I would imagine that they had already been making HGSS before Platinum was even announced, actually. Game companies usually have plans for things several months or even a year before anyone else has even heard of the game.

In truth, Platinum, to the best of my knowledge, is also able to display that something came from Johto, however it is possible they choose not to do this for more technical reasons - perhaps the early implementation could have been glitchy, or caused the Pokemon to be unable to do something. Regardless, it is possible to make a Pokemon in any 4th gen game say it came from Johto, as with Kanto and Hoenn.

How can any 4th generation game display Johto's data when you yourself said it is not possible?

When'd I say that? The games don't show that when trading; they can.

Oh, sorry. I misunderstood.
