I've been thinking for the past while about what reasons leading to GSDS, including some of the big kickers, may have actually been invalidated with the actual event. Although it has obviously happened, GSDS is here, does it actually conform to many of the common points?
Note: This post isn't quite complete yet.
"Johto" Trade Data (False)
This was actually one of the points that was considered the "big" kicker. It showed the most promise that there would be a remake, yet now it appears as though it was, in-fact, left-over data. HeartGold and SoulSilver, when trading Pokemon, will instead show "Far-Away Land".
Absence of Johto Legendaries (True)
This point actually was right on the money. The 4th generation failed to include many Johto, Kanto, and Hoenn Pokemon, yet now the starters, the legendaries, the everything else has been completed with HGSS.
White Rock (We'll See)
During the Shaymin event, Prof. Oak mentioned a "White Rock" in Kanto. Yet, none existed. We now have the game, however no confirmation of such a rock has been given. Does it exist, still? I'm sure we'll find out soon - it could be in an unexplored event, or none of those playing the Japanese games have played any mind.
Red Gyarados on the News (True)
This, interestingly, appeared right at the beginning of D/P. Now, with the Red Gyarados having returned, it appears quite valid.
Legendary Birds in Platinum (False)
This one was, to my surprise, proven wrong, as HGSS includes the birds as well, instead of referencing that they were in Sinnou.
Unused Shellos (We'll See)
The unused Shellos sprites in D/P never were very strong pieces of evidence, and as of now, can't be confirmed or denied. I would imagine they are not used now, but its possible they will be when you battle with a friend owning D/P.
Stock Art (True)
Yup, this one seems to have been proven right. Previously, stock art for some Johto Pokemon was absence in DPP, now its back with HGSS.
Trademarks (False)
Several trademarks were registered by Nintendo that would make sense, including "Pokemon White Gold". However, instead different names, "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver" were used, so false.
