I tried a walk-through-anything code on a Pokemon Pearl ROM recently (to protect the actual cartridge) right from he beginning and I found that it really screwed things up - for instance, I never had my Pokemon, so if I would accidentally encountered a wild battle or trainer battle, I would naturally lose, and be rushed to the Pokemon Center. There, it would heal my non-existent Pokemon, but the Pokéball would stay on the healing machine.

I also found that, like many have probably seen on Youtube, there is a "Mystery Zone" filling a great amount of the region, filled normally with trees. Merely going three tiles to the left of Route 202 (or into the second row of trees) will cause you to appear there.

Also, when I went through the trees on the way to Oreburgh city, upon entering the city, the floor was all white, and the rendering of the whole thing was screwed up. To fix I simply exited and entered the city properly.

All of this was from a mere five minutes of screwing with a Pokemon Pearl OM. I'm curious what other stories people have about different cheats, be it a friend having done it with their game, or trying the cheats on a ROM, or doing it hardcore with the actual device and the actual game themselves.

My friend pulled out Pokemon Crystal really fast and put it back in after he put a drop of water in, then somehow had a level 100 Charizard or something... Weird.

He probably just hacked it before.

BTW, I was once screwing around with a fakemon rom, Fire Red hack that is, and I added too many cheats. The fakemon changed form into normal Pokemon and everything became glitchy, pink, yellow and bright green.

I believe me saying "Cheaters never prosper" would definitely fit this thread quite well. You should never cheat on Pokemon games. How can you ever become a true Pokemon Master? ;P

*headdesk* by owning a level 100 charizard with 999 stats maybe?

It annoys me when I see Pokemon with such high stats, being its not possible. For instance, I once traded a Pikachu for Bulasaur. The bulbasaur, at level 20, had 499 stats all around.

Isn't 255 the max or something?

It is hilarious that you get less ribbons and such when you use the cheat codes. For example, in Pokemon Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald... if you go and try to get the ribbon from one lady who see's how you treat your Pokemon, she'll be like. "Your Pokemon despise you. You do not deserve this ribbon for treating this Pokemon in such a manner."

Or something like that... I think I made everything seem fancy, ;P.

Can you get their happiness back up? :O

Depends on how high their level is. I mean, to get the ribbon regardless they have to be around Level 75. So if you try to train them from that level and you've been cheating to get their stats high and their level, then there is virtually no chance of the Pokemon ever trusting or liking you.

People don't realize how advanced these Pokemon games can be.

And by the way, 255 is not the max. Depends on the Pokemon really. And their nature.

In Red/Blue/Green, it actually is. 8-bits doesn't allow anything higher. In later games, the highest gradually got higher. And, like NP said, it depends on IVs, EVs, and Nature.

Thats usually because the cheat device will set all stats to 0, then increase them according to the code. And, I have been able to get those ribbons at levels in the 40s. It usually depends on how much you walk/bike (something that seems small, but actually is a big factor), what level you started raising them at, and if you use happiness raising services, like the Massage lady in D/P.

Are you talking about stats or happiness with the 255 thing, because I think I got stats and happiness mixed up.

Oh, happiness peaks at 255.

Okay, so I stressed the level a bit. ;P

Just thought I would make things seem a bit more difficult since SK doesn't seem to know much.

I don't take it easy on anyone. If you want information, this is how we're going to give it mister! Whether you like it or not! XD...

You are all terribly mistaken. EVs peak at 255, but every 4 EVs are one stat point = 255 is lacking one EV for another valid stat point.

EVs peak at 255, as does happiness, however the actual stats can be in the 400-500s.

We never mentioned EVs beyond that they affect stats.
