Firefox 3.5 came out a few days ago, and though many developers have been slow to re-act (Facebook still treats it as an old browser, recommending to upgrade to itself, while Google Gears currently doesn't have a stable release for it), however it is adopting market share quickly. It is naturally only a minor release, so features are few, however there are still improvements in the layout engine and private browsing.

So, I'm curious, has anyone besides myself upgraded to it? Or are you waiting for software compatibility (or do you even use Firefox at all)?

Well, since it is an upgrade regardless and I am a Firefox user, I upgraded to it.

I've missed something.

They were distributing the 3.1 beta, 3.4 beta, and 3.5 beta, but I only saw 3.5 becoming a stable release.

3.5 was originally going to be 3.1, while 3.6 was originally going to be 3.2. I'm not sure of 3.4 off-hand, though I'm guessing it was also 3.5.

The only thing I have noticed with FireFox updating so far is the fact that you can add a tab more easily. Lol.

FireFox is best for RuneScape. :D

Well that's insulting, SK.

I usually use the Firefox nightlies because they are stable enough for me - right now I'm using 3.7.

Anyway, most of the improvements in Firefox lately are things you won't notice going in, but will notice if you started using the old version again. For instance, Firefox 3.5 supports HTML 5 audio/video, which is used on Wikipedia. It also supports stylist CSS 3, and the HTML 5 canvas. It's also much faster at rending Javascript.

Edit: Though, I do now use Chromium for my day-to-day browsing. Specially the 4.0 Linux nightlies.

3.7 is out? Or is it still Beta?

3.6 is beta, 3.7 is pre-alpha (you can only find it in the nightly channels).

Not much difference. I don't even know if there is a difference...

Quite a bit, but it is only a point release still. Web browsers that come out reasonably consistently don't change their look that often, ya know (only IE, which comes out more or less every two years). Again, the changes are more so in the Gecko rendering engine.

So they're mostly things I'll have to look at the source for?

I think 3.6 is supposed to support aero glass, but I don't have aero on my pc.

Well, CSS 3 support was a big priority - Mozilla Gradient is really awesome-sauce (and loads instantly compared to an image). I think 3.5 already supports <audio>/<video>, but I know 3.6 does for sure. Aero I believe will be with 3.7, then made really awesome with 4.0.
