A smart phone is usually classified as a phone which has many of the functions of a computer, however the exact classification is hard to define. Just the same, smart phones are constantly changing, with a few brands coming out on top. Those brands would be Apple, now with the Apple IPhone 3Gs, Palm, now with the Palm Pre, and Blackberry, now with the Blackberry Storm. Of course, many others are notable, such as LG. Ultimately, which do you own and which have you come to like the most?

Um, I need a favor: Can you just have a look at it/try it and tell me how does it turn out?

I have done a little with some store demos, and it doesn't seem overly improved from the Iphone 3G, rather there are just a few software updates (video playback for example).

You can check www.apple.com (http://www.apple.com) for what is updated. It is REALLY updated from the previous one...

There's a big difference between and update and an upgrade. The 3G S is mostly just a bunch of software updates, with very little hardware updates. You can get the same effect of buying a 3G S just by updating your iPhone's software.

Do you know if the update costs anything and if so how much?

Because the iPhone 3G S costs so much, Apple will not release those as an update for the public so they can get more money from people buying the new one.
Basic corporate logic.

Suppose that should be pretty obvious. I think thats part of the reason I have so much interest in the TMobile G1 - software updates are always 100% free (since it uses Google's Open-Source Android OS), so you only pay for hardware updates if you want a new device.
