As one might expect, people are already talking about future game remakes with now both the first generation (LeafGreen and FireRed) and second generation (HeartGold and SoulSilver) being remade. However, at what point should they stop, or at least slow down? Never? Right now? When?
Naturally, it could already be expected that the third generation games could be remade in the fifth generation, but then so could remakes of FireRed/LeafGreen, which would mean remakes of remakes. A few years later, people might expect that Diamond and Pearl are remade, just as HeartGold and SoulSilver might be, another remake of a remake.
Should this process ever stop, say right now, or say after a little bit more time. Perhaps it should at least slow down, because in about five more years we might have LeafGreen2 and FireRed2. Another 10 years after that we might just have yet another set of remakes.
Obviously if such a pattern were to continue, the cycle would get overly boring and Pokemon would likely die out. So, instead of stopping completely, should it perhaps change, and should alternatives be used instead? Naturally the older games won't be any too easy to come by, so should tactics like the Wii's virtual console be instead used to glorify old games, or should perhaps these older games be made as mini-games in future MMORPG games (certainly a possibilty in 10 years)? After all, some of the oldest of games, such a Super Mario Bros. for the NES has seen both; being made a minigame in Animal Crossing for the Gamecube and a Virtual Console game for the Wii.
What do you think? What approach should be taken in the future as to not make things too repetitive?
