T-Mobile G1

Though I don't own one of these phones myself, I do have a friend who owns one and this does seem to be one of the best phones out there, possibly better than that of even the Apple IPhone.

Now, what is truly different about this phone compared to others is that it uses a Linux operating system, the Google Android. To this end, it doesn't cost as much as it easier for developers to create applications for it.

The hardware itself is highly comparable to the Apple Iphone, including about the same RAM as well as the touch screen and accelerometers. Plus, it boasts a built-in qwerty keyboard.

Is anyone else familiar with this phone and what do you think of it?

Yeah, I have an incredibly old cell phone from the 90s. I don't care heavily for the gadgets, since a laptop is just a less (though still)-mobile version of them all. And, gadgets generally aren't powerful.

Heh... I am a phone collector in some ways.

I have three phones on right now. Two from T-Mobile and one from Verizon. Verizon, to me, is the best service out there righ now.

I have a Razr V9M {Verizon}
Sidekick LX {T-Mobile}
The G1 {T-Mobile}

All of them are used for different things though, so I don't just buy cell phones to say that I have them or anything.

A lot of the hype about it is true.

It also sounds like the first screenshots of the new G1, the myTouch G1, will be made available by T-mobile next week. It sounds like it removes the slide-out keyboard, will be slimmer, and will have an improved camera.
