As of now, unregistered users will also be able to post in threads and create their own. Likewise, if they were to register, they would gain further abilities. Once they confirm through email, they will have all permissions of a normal user except for that of social groups and albums. They will also have this once confirmed.
However, with these changes, it is stressed that users will still need to follow all of these rules, and any posts that do not will be deleted promptly. Likewise, spamming of the forums is also strictly prohibited, and users may be IP banned for doing so.

D: This has been proven to be rather unsuccessful on other forums. Perhaps limit which forums can be posted in?

Definitely limit the RP section, guests spam all over that place.

I'll be worrying more fully when people actually do start posting. It is very possible I'll reduce or eliminate such powers on a later date, but I just want to try it out for now.

Make a forum where guests can post, and lock them out of the other ones. That's worked pretty well on some forums I went to.

In my personal opinion that would just be a waste of forum space. Also, it would be more logical to use that for purposes like alternative confirmation.

But yeah, as said, that will open doors for spammers to spam and mess up the whole place...

We could set a post-per-day limit for a guest using their IP...

True, and I have already had some problems with that. I will need to work out the system later with an improved spam filter.
We could set a post-per-day limit for a guest using their IP...
That would be reasonable, but spammers would be more than willing to use proxies, while legitimate users would rather not. None the less, we still haven't had huge problems.

And I don't think we will soon...
Sorry to say that (and I don't mean to offense) I didn't even know that something called "PokeZam" existed, so probably people won't be able to spam it here?
However, I might be absolutely wrong...

We can ban all known proxy servers. Who uses proxies besides hackers and spammers? Noone.
Shadow: We have had spambots before.
I can never go to the Who's Online section without seeing Google Spider.

Eh... We used to be very active, actually. That changed several months back when I and other staff members left the place due to an impressive feud. I'm hoping to rebuild it over the summer, though.

Feud? Wut? Tell. I really don't have anything more interesting to do.

It was a disagreement between a former admin and the founder of the site. The former admin got a project started and underestimated the work it caused him.
Here's another thing... Alakazam (the founder of this site) has had staff members who haven't always been the most reliable (myself included). To be fair though, I haven't had anything to set me apart from Serebii.

Pokemaster should be coming back, and I also want to tap some other sources.
Feud? Wut? Tell. I really don't have anything more interesting to do.
Eh... Long story. Basically we merged with another forum, one which I had also contributed to, however a former (or current, I guess) web-master for Pokezam.com was dis-satisfied and caused things to break apart. Most staff members later left, however Winter I believe did stay. I then came back a few months later, and now another member, Pokemaster (aforementioned) should be coming back as well. The two remaining staff that had left won't be coming back, nor do I particularly want them to.
Which reminds me, that site continues to have its hits drop drastically, and we continue to beat them in the rankings. Yay! I sounds like Fox News :P

Hm... Too late :P
Yeah, Alakazam would be the web-master I mentioned, however he really isn't active on the site anymore. On the other hand I am the longest-running member of the site, active since '07.

Heh, this site has a quite interesting history. I'm really glad I joined. Anyway, back to the posting privileges - the only way to solve all problems is not let guests post. The only final solution.
EDIT: Should I try to convince Alakazam to come back via MSN?
Probably no, the admins at this site are decent enough. But still.

True :P
And, considering I've so far found 3 spam posts and no legitimate posts, I may be nipping this thing in the butt pretty quickly. I'll still try it out until this Friday.

It's not that Alakazam doesn't want to return, it's that he is far too busy with personal stuff right now.

Yeah, and thats understandable. Also, he isn't at all in control of the bills, effectively removing any ownership of the site as well. He really just stands as the original creator, while I the webmaster and some other person the owner.
(Honestly, I like being in control, so I guess I actually don't want him to return either. Just the same, I wouldn't have anything wrong with him coming back, it would just feel weird at first.)

I'd prefer him not to return, quite frankly. He's not really that great of a person to run a site, in my opinion.

Nah, you just didn't know him in his hay-day. Back then he did a great job. However now he is, rightfully, working on things that are really more important.
Of course, I'm trying to take the easy way out and write some scripts to sell. If that works, I might just try to become self-employed, otherwise I'll have to find a real job...

I'm thinking I'll have to get back to you on that, but I will compose a bit of a history report on it in a few days.

Well, as this seemed to fail, not having gotten a single legitimate post, I will be returning the permissions to their old state.
