Dead Batteries

I'm curious as to how many people owning first and second generation games have had their batteries, which keep the save files up and running, die on them, as well as which games this was. I know this is becoming incredibly common as these games get older and older. I know I own both Pokemon Yellow, Pokemon Gold, and if memory serves Pokemon Silver, but I'll have to check them later.
