View Full Version : Art Contest Test
Well, since a few people liked this in the Competition Discussion [highly recommended] I'd thought I'd try it out, and give those that are interested a friendly heads-up.
Starting mid-September, there will be an art contest held each month with a theme. The one that draws something best suited for the theme will win a prize. Could be an egg... Or a rare Pokemon... Or even our beloved Kaboom's old underwear (for the fangirls). :D
Since this is a test, there will be no prizes, just ideas on improvement. I'd like for there to be several divisions in it, like sketch, computer-drawing pad, hand-drawn... but I can't be throwing out eggs like that. (At least I don't think.) Anyway, I think good old hand-drawn, colored will be fine for now.
And now, the first ever Art Contest theme.... test::
SINGLED OUT!
Draw a single Pokemon doing anything.

Question; Do we have to color it? Because drawing this pokemon is difficult enough for me.
For now, no. But in the real contest, yes.

I'd like for there to be several divisions in it, like sketch, computer-drawing pad, hand-drawn...
Couldn't I only enter the Sketch? Because I might be able to color it... But it would make it look bad...(with my coloring skills it would)
There is no Sketch. I want one type, so there can be one prize. If I had several categories, and most of them had one entry, that person would have one by default, and that's not really fair.

OK, then. I guess I'll have to learn how to color.
My left hand on my pokemon is turning out right! But other then that, it's going great!
EDIT: Is it ok, that I use a referance picture, as long as I don't trace? (At least for the test round?)
Yeah. That's fine. I just want a good response. This is just a heads up.

This is one of my first sketches and my second fully completed sketch. I hope I did well! Sorry for the bad quality, and the fact they're huge... :o
Wahh. Dusknoir. I simply hate that Pokemon after what he did in PMD2! >:[

True, but I like his pose. That's why I chose him. Besides the fact you hate him, how did I do? Or do I have to wait till Judging, (If anyone else enters)?
I like him. Try some different poses.

That would be a challenge. I did this with a picture I copied,(Without Tracing) I could try, but tomorrow.

I'm almost done with mine. I just need to finish the easy part of this pokemon (almost done with it's head) and then I have to take a picture and upload it.
Ok, ok... Enough spam of "I'm gonna enter" and just post pictures.

That Leafeon is great! I love it!
Erm.. I noticed that these are kinda big. ^^'' You can open Paint. Right click, and do Stretch/Skrew. On the top part, replace both of the 100% with 50% and click "Ok". This will shrink it. Play around with that feature. It's fun.

I would do that, but there's one problem. I don't have Paint. I use a Mac, not a PC.

I like to scan the picture step by step in case I like this part colored but not how I did this part, and blahblah... Sooo here is all the different scans in one. You can tell me where I messed up that way I guess...

I suck too much now to continue to try and do a regular vaporeon, so I went with cutesy (http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k311/Kit-Katlicious/Lilvaporeon-1.png).
So small, I know :'D

These pictures are adorable. <3 Cutesy literally made me say "awww!" Charizard made me lol, and Leafeon looked so professionally done I gawked. Everything else was really cool too, guys! :3
Anyway....I still don't know why I'm doing this. I'm a writer, not a drawer. So why am I posting? Only Kami knows, and he ain't telling!
ANYWHO! I present to you...Jazzpear, the newest addition to my Pokemon Pearl team! He has blue eyes because apparantly he's based off the Jasper from the Twilight series, a really weird megahorn, and odd cursive handwriting because Shiny Espeon hates going over her work in markers! xP He has a tag for some reason; I dunno if he's wearing a bell or a hookknife, but I love him anyway!

umm....I guess normal members can't see attached pics.....it says
"Mesatalia, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

I'm wondering if I should re-do mine, take more time on it...I can't win at this point, everyone is so good, lol

But there is nothing to win... That is way I didn't put more time in to mine. I just walked on it while I cleaned, coming back to it every now and then to add acouple lines or a little color.
So you can put more time into it when it is a real contest with a prize.

Hmm, that's weird. I thought regular members could view attached things. Anyway, is this (http://www.pokezam.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=141&stc=1&d=1218854939) better?

What did you use to color? Crayon?
Torikoma
08-17-2008, 06:48 PM
No, I used Prismacolor pencils. XD
I just didn't press down all too hard. So it still has that crayon-ish look.
Ah~ Nicely done. I was thinking either Crayon or oil pastels.
Torikoma
08-17-2008, 06:51 PM
Ah, thank you.
I suppose Prismacolor pencils are kind of like oil pastels. Just not as... Well, oily.
Yeah. They are a little thicker, I guess you could say. They're a little on the costy side. I sat beside a girl in my DrawingII-cram-a-lot class who had a complete set of like 200 pencils and a nice wooden case. She said it was a gift from someone. I was fasinated by it.

I have something simmilar except it not only has colored pencils but pastels, water color pastes with a water bottle, markers, paint brushes, putty eraser, sharpener, that sort of thing in a nice compact carrying case. I <3 it ^_^
Now all I need are acrylic paints and some canvas and I'm set, lol.
I think I'm gonna re-draw my vulpix...
Hey! Everyone, listen up. Your attention, if you please.... (Gah... get out)
Ok. It's not colored, but it was 3am, and I could not sleep for the life of me.
Check out Chibi Palkia!!
