This is something I noticed, playing Sapphire... Notice anything?

One ear up. One ear down. I wonder if Whismer was the inspiration of Buneary.

I'm sure alot of people noticed this already but:
Azurill marill Azumarill
Azu from Azurill and Marill for well Marill gives you Azumarill!
Yeah.... Also, azure is a color of blue, which matches their blue color. ^^ That's why I named myself that in Sapphire: 1) for the version and 2) for the starter (Mudkip).

There is a page on Serebii with all the gender differentials. I'd link to it but I'm not allowed.
Some of teh differences are REALLY small!
They have the same on PsyPokes. I prefer them, since they have a little more detail.

I think all Pokémon should have gender differences, really. Big or small, there should be something...

I do? *Checks* Wow! I do!
They should, It's like even though there are human twins of opposite gender, they still have some difference...
I agree. Most of the Pokemon with horns and stuff have little variation, but variation all the same.
Houndoom's horns
Rhyhorn's horns
Venusaur's flower thing
Even markings would work, like Buizel/Floatzel.

But yeah, things as small as markings should at least be put.
Yeah, like Arcanine.
Male= bigger stripes

In Diamond/Pearl, I noticed that Lugia and Ho-oh are in the exact same postures?
Charmander99

Almost:
249
250
Just a little differance
Well, they are giant birds of power. How else should they be posed? =/

Like that? :p
Yeah, no...
They are HUGE birds, with giant wings and long necks. Poor Lugia has that tail. x_x
Charmander99

I like that tail. I saw this cool Spinda, and it had two dots above it's eyes, and they looked like eyebrows, and it had two dots on it's ears. It was cool, I wonder how many forms of spinda there are...
No two Spinda are alike...
Pokemon D/P [dutch] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssVXlF8xPtU) Watch at 4:05 - 4:09. See her boots on? The very next scene, they are off.
I found this a LONG time ago. I think I'm the first to. :D

The feather is bigger on the male
Yes, yes.... there are male and female differences.
Can we move on?

About Spinda:
Every single Pokémon has a 32-digit binary number assigned to it. In different ways, this number affects things like gender, special ability (if the species can have two), shinyness, what Wurmple evolves into, nature, Unown's letter, and also Spinda's spots. The spots are calculated through coordinates given in this number, two on the face and one on each ear. This means that two Spinda can be identical, but it is extremely unlikely (1 in 2^32 chance).
Anyway... let's move on... umm... What percentage of people you know like Pokémon? For me it's like 0%. Or maybe 0.001%...
Hmm... People I know? 0% But it is hard to find people my age with a Poke-fetish. I know there's people around me who like Pokemon, but I don't know them. v_v
That's not really the point of this thread. The thread's topic is weird things you notice in the games or anime, like errors and stuff.

yeah... me too... but sometimes... like 15% or so...
EDIT: sorry Akai, your post came out of no where...

Me probably 5% ish because I have only one friend that I know plays pokemon, but more could. I also have a lot of friends.
STAY ON TOPIC PLEASE

Oopsie. Well, have you noticed on Emerald some of the tiles are not quite right? For example at Mt. Chimney the ledge with the Meteorite machine seems to be level with the lava and also above it... And in the Magma Hideout there's the ledge you jump over after Groudon is awakened looks a little bizarre around the edges.

Ooh, give the Umbreon a prize. That must really have taxed your brain to get that one.
On the subject of name origins, Darkrai is composed of "Dark" and "Rai", "rai" being "thunder" in Japanese. "Pika" is "electric" and "chu" is "mouse". Try finding more obscure name origins before magnifying them next time...
Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres are the dubbed names. Their original names were Freezer, Thunder, and ... I forgot Moltres' Japanese name

Moltres: Fire
Zapdos: Thunder
Articuno: Freezer
Moltres is Fire. My fave element!
Oh. Thanks. I was thinking Flamer, but I wasn't sure. :p
I like Flareon's Japanese name. Booster, I think it was. XD
Now I'm curious on the names. Not the combo names like Breloom, but others, like Absol.
Where does Absol come from? Is it short for Absolute
Charmander99
07-31-2008, 05:22 PM
I know, some names are confusing as where they come from like:Giratina and stuff...
I think... think... Giratina is suppose to be like Guillotine. When dubbing, almost always the Rs become Ls.
Ex: Kirara from InuYasha became Kilala.
Charmander99
07-31-2008, 05:31 PM
That's true...
I noticed alot of Japanese names, are pronounced only slightly different like:
Heatran; hiidoran
Shaymin; sheimi
Rotom; Rotomu
Weird? And some are completely different:
Swampert; Rugaji
Most of the time, Legendary Pokemon names don't change that much.

Absol is Latin. "Sol" is the Sun and the "ab-" prefix indicates an absence thereof.
Absol means "no sun"? ...That makes no sense, since Absol is suppose to be the "misfortune" Pokemon.
Kaboom
08-04-2008, 05:49 PM
Well, "no sun" can come to mean "darkness", which can include "misfortune". Sometime meanings aren't instantly clear.
I think you're thinking too much about it. ^_^;;

Oh, that's an interesting idea. o.O I thought the PokeDex said that Absol was the absolute Pokemon, though, because it predicts disasters?

I'm interested in where Palkia's and Dialga's names came from.
....Seriously?
Palkai = Parukia = Pearl
Dialga = Diaruga = Diamond

I've been noticing a lot of things lately, Pokémon-wise.
Everyone knows that Ho-oh is based on the Japanese legend of Ho-oo, but I was reading through a book of myths and legends yesterday, and it mentioned "the Sphynx, a creature resembling a human girl in most respects, yet speaking in a way that sounds like human speech but is impossible to understand". Sound familiar?
