I think you're thinking of show-doves, the pure white birds. Doves are really kinda ugly in the wild.

My high school mascot is a panther. If you want some pictures, I can get them, no problem. In fact, our handbook had this awesome panther tattoo-ish picture on it.

For me they would be

Racoons,they are like mini ninjas^^
Penguins,they go waddle,waddle.
And little rodents like a hamster. x.x So chubby^^
