What are you planning to do in Platinum. What I mean is how are you going to start off your game, who are you going to choose, what are you going to catch, etc.
What I'm going to do is choose Chimchar as my Pokemon because it was originally my first choice in my Japanese Diamond Version. I'm probably going to be done with Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, including the Special Missions, and so I'll send over the Darkrai, Riolu, and Manaphy Egg as soon as I can. Darkrai and Riolu won't listen to me at the beginning because of the lack of gym badges, but they will later on. I'm going to start off with only Chimchar and Manaphy. Maybe two Manaphys because I already did the Manaphy mission in the original Pokemon Ranger, but I didn't transfer it yet. If I can't transfer it to Platinum, then I'll just send it to Diamond and from there I'll send it to Platinum. I'm planning on making my starting team (for the first badge) Monferno, Manaphy (x2), Starly, and Bibarel.
My Dream Team is Infernape, Manaphy, Phione, Lucario, Darkrai, and Giratina.
Your dream team is sickening. An overuse of Legendaries ruins the game.
Does anyone know if there will be any more Fire Pokemon? I may have to get on the WiFi world and have a Numel sent over. I luvs meh Camerupt.

I don't believe you need Wi-fi for that, Because all you do is insert a GBA game into the second slot to transfer. But you couldn't do it till after you beat the E4 Because you'll need the NAtional Dex...
I know. I'd much rather have something other than a Chimchar or Ponyta to train all the game. After the E4, there's not much more to do. I'll need a friend or something to throw over a Fire type.

I'm going to do what I did for my Japanese Diamond as well, pick Piplup and essentially solo with it. This time around unlike before, I'll be bringing along and raising a Starly into a Starraptor as insurance should Piplup (and its evolutions fail).
I'm hoping that this time around, I can complete the Battle Frontier and make this the first game I finish 100%.

Me i'm picking turtwig like i did in my diamond game. Well i never played the game until the E4 cause my cousin played the whole game on me when i first got the game. I told him that i wanted to make the challenging by not knowing what to do (and i dont still till after E4 like i said). So the pokemon ill catch depends maybe shinx or starly or both of them, ill catch bidof just add him to my dex,Ill look for good natures like i always do in the games so i can have good teams to beat the E4.
Question: On the version exclusives, like Glameow/Stunky and Misdreavous/Murkrow, will Platinum have both? I may choose Chimchar. I really don't know.

I think it has it's own exclusives, because Emerald had different exclusives then ruby and sapphire... That'
s why i had to change my team around, I can't catch a meditite/medicham...
I really need to know those Pokemon before I make my team... -glances to Pisaro-

I will pick Infernape and go the same way I did with Diamond...

I won't be the first to break the exclusives though I'll try and find out as soon as possible. I know I'll be getting a Platinum guide though not for a while. I made the mistake of getting two Diamond and Pearl guides and they were fairly thin and didn't have much information.
Yeah. If you're talking about the one I'm thinking of (Vol 1) they do lack... a lot. Vol 2, aka the PokeDex, is the one you really want.

Actually I bought a few Japanese guides and they didn't cover much. In fact they only covered up to 150 in the Shinou (Sinnoh) dex. D:
Bummer. I got a PokeDex book with all the Pokemon, but Giratina, Shaymin, and Arceus.

I have one that covers 151 pokemon, and half of the pokemon are from the 1st Gen even though it says sinnoh handbook...

I got the VOL. 2 book the pokedex one, its useful I use t when im not online for looking up attacks and stuff.
I plan on gettin this game, beating it, and trading all my pokemon from Pearl to Platinum, then I want to find people to battle with on wifi, and see if they are worthy of joining my wifi clan. I need strong trainers-- and the support of the mods... and the admin. I wait in anticipation for you, SR.
..... and those are my plans.........

Well I don't plan on using my Eved pokemon. They ruin the game. I might as well send a Yanma and Bagon egg. I plan on starting with a Turtwig. I might get a Buizel and Shinx. I plan on getting Gible for the sixth pokemon.
So my team will be. Torterra ,Yanmega, Salamence, Floatzel, Luxray, and Garchomp.
Wow... That team is Ice-weak. Haha. You must have something huge planned to overcome that weakness. I'm a little eager to find out what.

:(
shouldnt there be a test???
im only 10 :(
im going to transfer my team to platnuim
Latios, rayquaza, celebi, garchomp, dragonite, and gorebyss
Your team seems very ten-ish. You're killing it with Legendaries.
I wish people can use regular Pokemon, like in the anime and manga.

i had a dragon team tho i found celebi and i couldnt resist
actauly 2 celebi's
tho im going to go with an ice type (mamoswine) and replace celebi with tangagrowth
tho i cant replace rayquaza
ive had it for about 3 years (i dont remember)
and it was my first legendary pokemon
ever since ive traded it back and fourth to all my games ive had
I can understand that. Your first real Legendary (like an event Pokemon) is special. Mine is a Mew. ^^
Mamoswine is cool. Tangrowth... no opinion. I suppose he's pretty strong. Tangela is pretty strong.
MoonUmbreon

Tangrowth are actualy very strong and a very god tank and so is Mamoswine
Tangrowth is a hp/defence/sp defence base
and Mamoswine is a hp/attack i think
my Dragonite is ev trained and is very skilled (moves: Focus Blast, Roost,Dragon Rush,Dragon Pulse
he has a lot of defence so roost helps.
if i dont get Mamoswine or Tangrowth i have a Gengar that in incredibly strong (Hypnosis,Nightmare,Dreameater, and Drain punch)
and a Weavile that is strong just my rivals have very type advantages against her
Garchomp knows surf that helps a lot and then dragon moves (im getting Dragon Claw for Dig)(He knows Dragon claw, Giga Impact, Dragon rush, Surf)
Wait wait... why is every one trading over Pokemon? That's really sad. It's like you suck so much that you have to use a team you've had in Red/Blue was out.
I may just get any starter and replace it with something else, if there's no good Fire types. I have my doubts, so I may get stuck with Chimchar.

Well im a very big trader/collector and i have all my pokemon besides rayquaza traded so sometime i will trade them
other than that i wont really use them besides my rayquaza, im just going to trade over tangela and swinub, dustox, starter, and pachirisu will be my starter team
pachirisu is a great cool contest winner
I really need to know the avaliable Pokemon. I hope a lot more variation of types are avaliable.
My team, maybe (final): Infernape; Crobat; Pachirisu; Golduck; Hippopotas; ????

Grass, dark, ghost, and steel are the only types i see left
Aggron, Alakazam, Roserade, absol, duskclops, luckitung, and proygon 1,2,or Z
thats all i really see that would be a good choice
I may opt Hippopotas for a Shieldon, since they are too cute, and part steel. Rawr!
There aren't any really good Psychic types I like. I was going to have Golduck have a Psychic attack, like Zen Headbutt, or the awesome Psychic. :D

I've been thinking this over for a while now...
Camerupt
Wailord
Tangrowth
Manectric

Dragonair
(I detest Dragonite)

Salamence and Garchomp can learn fire moves. xD Yanmega can learn Ancient Power and with Yanmega's uber speed and uber Special Attack well... xD

True, but both Salamence and Garchomp are 4x weak against Ice.
Salamence = Dragon/Flying
Garchomp = Dragon/Ground
One Ice attack will do a lot more damage to them, than one Fire attack to an Ice Pokemon... And if people are smart, they'd have a Water/Ice Pokemon like Walrein.

Thankfully, the 4x Ice Weakness is helped slightly by the Yache Berry. A properly trained Salamence/Garchomp can usually survive most Ice attacks, and then follow up by finishing off an opponent.
I am not sure what team I'll have, though a friend of mine EV trains Pokemon, so I might borrow his to get through the Frontier. I don't want to have 400 hours logged as was the case with my Diamond cart.
I can understand using those EV Pokemon for the Frontier, but I think people are going to play until they can trade, and then simply cheat by wiring over good Pokemon.

After failing the Battle Frontier in Emerald, waiting for Diamond and Pearl's Battle Tower, and then failing that, I want five stars now. Frankly I don't have time to walk around in the "wild", catch a Pokemon, check it's IV's, find out they're not good enough, and then start over again.
On the plus side though, this guy is legit, so I should be able to breeze through things.
^_^ Just play honestly through the game. It is different enough from Diamond and Pearl to enjoy yourself. (Wow... that sounds dirty.)

Well I'll go through it all first and defeat the Elite Four, grab 50 Flags (unless they changed it) and win a Master Rank contest. I'm not being entirely lazy; my friend is not giving me these Pokemon, he wants something in return. I am trading him some of my event Pokemon including several Colosseum Bonus Disc Celebi amongst others.

I use non legend pokemon thru the games. I use pokemon that are well really not so good but good, like NU pokemons, for example: mightyena and dustox. The only time i used legends when playing thru the games where when red, blue, yellow, gold, silver, and crystal versions where around.

Ahaha.
My team:
Torterra
Pelipper
Skuntank (if avaliable)
Rampardos
Kriketune
HM slave
My teams are never a full six. :D
I may do that. I'm going good in Sapphire with my team of five.

I once went through Emerald with a team of three, none of which were starters. It was awesome. :D
But it bothers me to only have one pokemon on a team. >.<
It just occured to me that, if any of my team isn't avaliable on Platinum, I'm screwed. D:
I'm still waiting for some kind of guide to come out. I hope Pisaro can update us on the local Pokemon.

For In-Game (all Pokemon either traded over as eggs/fossils or caught/found in-game, excluding Hacked Mew):
Infernape
Floatzel (Will know Surf)
Cherrim/Leafeon
Aerodactyl
Drapion
Mew (HM Slave... What? Hacked Mews DO have a use for those that don't want to cheat. Anyways, will have Rock Smash, Rock Climb, Waterfall, and Strength)
For the Battle Frontier (all ev trained and bred for competitive battle):
Garchomp
Milotic
Dragonite
Salamence
Gyarados
Kingdra
^^ I also plan to make a journal of the events in the game as if I were experiencing them through the eyes of Lucas :D
Hahaha.... Mew as an HM Slave. It'll work since he's the most compatible.

Whoo! Hi! *waves*
Oh, another plan of mine for Platinum is to actually finish the game. I haven't even gotten all 8 badges on Diamond or Pearl. I've had Diamond for over a year, Pearl since last April.
>.<
Wow. Same here. I got bored with D/P. I had to force myself to finish Pearl.
