Signature?

When I was adding a sprite someone made me to my signature, it wouldn't work because:
Your signature cannot be longer than 500 characters excluding BB code markup.
When I look at some peoples signatures they put their stuff in a spoiler, so I tried that and it still wouldn't work... It still says:Your signature cannot be longer than 500 characters excluding BB code markup.

Is this a problem? Because some peoples signatures are over 500 characters because of what's in the spoiler.... and it still works for them.

Well, spoilers don't much help. Mods and Admins have less of a limit than members. I can modify your signature with how you want it to look if you'd like.

Well, the reason why is fairly simple. Several limits have been put on members for signatures. For members the limit is you can not have a signature that is 500 characters, excluding bb code, or 1000 characters including bb code.

Example:
Hello

This example has only 5 characters, the Hello. It also has an additional 14 characters of bbcode markup. So, in total there are 5 characters without bb code, 19 with it.

ok, so say I have an IMG
If the BBcode is; [IMG]Blahblahblah[IMG] Would the characters "inside" the BBcode count? Althoguh they wouldn't be displayed in the post/signature?
