I was wondering if it's possible to trade from Pearl to say Sapphire or any of the other earlier generation games for that matter :? If anyone knows whether or not this is possible, it would be greatly appreciated if you told me :)

Sadly it isn't. Once you trade Pokemon from a GBA game through Pal Park, it will be in your Diamond and Pearl game permanently. I guess when you consider the delay between the Japanese release of Emerald and the Japanese release of Diamond and Pearl; Game Freak worried more about preparing for the future than allowing one to migrate to the past.
Alternatively, perhaps they tried cross trading and weren't successful so opted to keep it out.
No, Pisaro. Iibui wants to know if you can trade Pearl Pokemon to Sapphire. The answer is still no.

Exactly. I didn't say that? Basically in short, cross trading from fourth generation games back to third generation games is not allowed.
I apologize for my use of confusing language. I need to work on simplifying my explanations.
I think (s)he means if (s)he got like a Pikachu in Pearl... (s)he wants to know if that's tradable. I don't think Pal Park is involved at all.

Well, actually Pisaro I think is just trying to fill in that Iibui wants to trade back, though is giving the general answer in case he is wrong. He did basically say what you did.
Anyway, the simple answer is no, you can't. This is likely for the same reasons you couldn't trade from G/S/C to R/S/E, which I explain below (I really hate it when I have too much time on my hands).
Whenever a new generation of pokemon is created, several changes to the hex values are created. These include new hex values, such as x00 for not shiny and x01 for shiny, x00 for male and x01 for female, or x00 for normal and x01 for pokerus. in G/S/C. In R/S/E values such Also you might find expanded hex values, such as a move from 8bit (x00) in the first and second generations to 16bit (x0000) in the third and fourth generations. This change alone made it virtually impossible without months of extra coding to trade from the first and second generations to the third and fourth, backwards anyway. This additional hex values exploited glitches when trading from G/S/C to R/B/Y.
In your particular case you would have to deal with filtering new pokemon, new moves, new items, and a bunch of other stuff when trading backwards, all of which was never done when trading from G/S/C to R/B/Y (from what I've gathered you would no longer be able to use the PC in R/B/Y).
