There are a lot of improvements in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Two that make the game a lot more fun and easier than the first Dungeon game. So, here, we compare and contrast the two games and list the advances in the game that we like. ^^

I personally like the way each Pokemon has their own portrait now...I don't know, I like to be able to see the Pokemon's picture when they're on my team. I also like the way the Pokemon say different things when you talk to them, unlike in MD I when each Pokemon had something specific to say. Example: (MD 1) "I take down foes using poison!" - Umbreon. Compared to "I'll help you Flut!e with my poison!" - Umbreon (MD 2)

What do you like about MD 2 that wasn't in MD 1?

Umbreon uses poison? ...

Yeah. I wish I could find my MD1 game so I can compare better, but MD2 is better. I like the story. There's such a twist it's crazy!

Yeah. One of his key moves is Toxic. Sorry! I'm used to thinking Umbreon is a boy, because my partner in MD 1 that comes with me everywhere is my Umbreon, who's a guy. ^^

I clearly remember that the story of MD I was very emotional, but MD II's plot just takes the cake. I couldn't believe it, and I cried for Grovyle. I did. *_*

Oh! Another good improvement in Mystery Dungeon Two, the IQ skill "Bodyguard". That has saved me sooo many times, I wish it was in the first game.

Have you finished the game? I really did cry. It was just sooo sad.

Golly Jizzle! I was at Hidden Island, and I was battling Dusknoir when my mom comes into the room and says, "Ok honey, I have to return that game to Blockbuster now. Give it here."

I was like, NOOOOOOOOO!! But I said that in my mind. In reality, I was like, "Mom, can we buy this game at Wal-Mart?" and she was like, "Sure."

So now I have to start all over, but at least I'll be able to keep the one I buy.

You can rent DS games at BlockBuster!? Gah. I need to switch.

Shiny Espeon

Yep. ^^ $5 for a week of gaming, that's what it is over here for a DS game.

I played through 14 hours in a week. @.@ So close to the ending, I could feel it...

Oh! Another good advancement: the Outlaw Board. ^^

Akai

Yes, of course! And the footprint mini-game.

Ahahah! That is fun. I like the way everybody at the guild works together, the way each Pokemon has their own little job. I could do without Loudred, though.

SMILES GO FOR MILES!

Yeah. He is a little much. =/ But the look your partner gives you in the morning is all worth it. @__@

I played through 14 hours in a week.

14 hours in a week? I got 14 hours in three days!

I think my favourite element in the whole game (besides the brilliant storyline) is the music when you fight an outlaw!
I also like my Luxio's "teenager" attitude - "Let's go, already!"

Akai

Kaboom, don't bash. She has her own life, as do you.... or do you? o_o;

Kaboom

I wasn't bashing, at least not deliberately, and if she sees it as bashing then I'm sorry.

"I do not need to 'get a life'. I am a gamer, I have lots of lives."

Anyway, I also like the new difficulty rating (as in the different levels of STAR missions), as it makes things a lot easier to judge.

"I do not need to 'get a life'. I am a gamer, I have lots of lives."

*Akai/floor/laughing* Nice!

Yeah. Even the really hard ones aren't that hard. I think they're at a set level, like 50 or something, and when you grow, they stay the same.

Grrs. I hate the Sandstorm and Hail! I was stupid and let a Hippowadon [sp] on my team. I totally forgot the Sand Stream ability. x_x;; I had to attack it and kill it off.

Couldn't you just send it back?

Dang! lol! That's extreme. Doesn't that much gaming hurt your eyes, though? o.O It does to me.

Oooooh! Luxio are so cute, and Luxray just looks like a little fur ball you can cuddle and hold. :3 I'll have to recruit one sometime...

Another good advancement is the ability to send a new recruit home the minute you recruit it! In MD 1, you had to go through the rest of the dungeon with the new recruit until you got out and the new recruit would be officially added to your team. This new feature makes it quick and easy. ^^

Oh, I hate "abilities" like that. They really mess the entire team up unless it works for the team.

Akai

Actually, with Weatherbands, the ability means nothing! Haha.

But I had one at the time, so I had the decision to be greedy or dead. x_x Choices, choices.

That always happens to me xD I'm like 'Hrm... should I take the pecha berry or give it to Mekima...?' And then I give it to her, and step on a poison trap, and wish I'd taken it, because there isn't another one in the entire floor. x.X

I don't have MDI so I don't know how it's different from MDII, but MDII is a lot of fun for me. What I can't stand is when I'm trying to attack, and I'm tap-taaaaping to use my set move and I end up just using my 'regular attack'. Then I get killed. x_x

L+A. I don't like using the touchscreen after all the times it's walked me into trouble.

One thing that they could have done better: When you recruit a Pokémon, if your team is full, the recruit gets sent back. I'd prefer being able to choose who goes back.

@ 3speon: Yea, like Kaboom said, don't trust the touch screen. Mine died after several months of Animal Crossing, so when I'm trying to pick up something in the middle of the screen, I have to touch the side of it to do it. It's really annoying.

On the items, always equipt status ones on you. You're leading, and most of the time trigger the traps.

@ Kaboom: I know what you mean. I was in the desert dungeon, so I packed my team up with toughie Pokemon. I really hoped a Cacturne would join, and guess what...? It did! X_X Grr.

Have you tried configuring it through the DS settings? I played Ranger, scoring over 200000 points at the arena. You can imagine how fast I was drawing the circles! Needless to say, the touchscreen was about half a centimetre off by the end! I just reconfigured it and it worked fine.

Akai
06-25-2008, 03:59 PM
How would you do that? Just go to Settings at the DS start screen?

Kaboom
06-25-2008, 04:11 PM
Yup, the option on the right is the one you want (orange crosshair)

Akai
06-25-2008, 04:15 PM
I tried, but it doesn't work. I keep trying to touch the marks, but they keep resetting themselves.

Kaboom
06-25-2008, 04:28 PM
In that case the sceen's broken!

Akai
06-25-2008, 04:47 PM
It's not broken. It still works. It's just off by a centimeter.

Kaboom
06-25-2008, 04:51 PM
Well, then, if it's constant then you just have to get used to it! Unless it's still under warranty.

Akai
06-25-2008, 04:53 PM
...why are you yelling? =/

I am used to it. I never said it was a problem.
