View Full Version : Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal Remake

Okay, the Yellow remake thread was kinda filled with G/S remake hopefuls, myself included. ;]
So... I made this thread so we could discuss a Gold and Silver Remake.
The main reason I think a remake should be made for Johto is because every other region has been remade and/or made decently. Johto is an upgrade from Red and Blue, yes, but it still needs work to become the way we're accustomed to seeing. Most of the Silver sprites only have two shades of every color for goodness' sake! I mean, honestly, we need an upgrade for this more than anything else in my opinion.

Of course I want there to be a 2nd gen remake. What the **** kind of hardcore pokemon fan doesn't. If one ever came out, I'd absolutely go out of my way to get it.
But lets' face it, it'll never happen. The remakes of the 1st gen, known as Fire Red/Leaf Green, led to speculation somehow that there would be remakes of the 2nd gen. If they made a 2nd gen remake, then people will start begging for a 3rd gen remake. Once that happens, they'll want a 4th gen remake, and then possibly another 1st gen remake, and eventually a 5th gen remake. You see where I'm going with this? They don't want to start the endless cycle that I described. The efforts in programming new games are best used making completely new games rather than constant remakes.
But still, as I said before, if it did ever happen for some reason, I would get it, I personally have nothing against a 2nd gen remake.

Actually, thats not entirely true. Did you know that there is data programed into diamond and pearl to enable trading with the Johto region?

Yea. I really think we need these remakes, I just wished they did them for the GBA, so we can Pal Park them over. With the DS cartridge, you can only link trade, right? It makes me mad with the people who says we don't need them, and to just trade over from Colosseum and XD. You know, they're just some games that you can't finish. I keep losing focus. x_X

Would it really make sense for them to be for the gba? You wouldn't have anywhere near the possibilities as with the DS. You may gain pal park but you would lose so much more.
I don't think you understand. We needed a remake when GBA was the main system. Now with DS, it's ruined the main thing the remakes will be used for: Trading.

Everyone who doubted the comeback of his awesome game, go to the Timeout Corner. You don't get to play! I have gotten from an exclusive source, that the Gold and Silver remakes, Pure Silver and Solid Gold are coming! Being released both in Japan and the US on Dec. 1, 2008, this will be a first for all. Both games are set in the Johto region, and then after you've completed the first part, you get to go to Kanto. You can play as a remade "Gold" or "Crystal" character, both given new clothes and a new look. As with any remake, to sweeten the deal, the programmers also added the Orange Islands as a side adventure. When you've completed the game, the Orange Islands will open up and you can challenge the four "gym" leaders and then Drake and his awesome Dragonite. Since the game is so long, Drake's Dragonite is rumored to be the first Lv100 Pokemon for an in-game character.

The Pure Silver version, as you already know, features Lugia. You can see him in the Whirl Islands, but this time, he'll run from you. You won't be able to catch him until you arrive at the Orange Islands for the first time. He'll be in a sacred shrine, where the Silver Wing was made. In Pure Silver, the shrine is a shimmering silver. A strange force will raise your Pokemon's speed, but lower accuracy. When you reach the Legendary Pokemon he will be rounded up to the nearest ten of your highest Pokemon. Like if your highest Pokemon Lv was 61, then Lugia will be Lv70.
The downside to this, Lugia cannot be used in the Orange Islands in gym battles. No legendary can, since they worship Drake's Dragonite, and having a Pokemon more awesome than it would be dissing their idol.

In Pure Gold, it's basically the same, only with Ho-oh. The Legendary bird can be found in the old Tin Tower, but it will flee when you approach it. Again, with Lugia, you'll have to track it down, with the Rainbow Wing, to the Orange Islands and enter the sacred shrine. Instead of being silver, it's now gold. In Solid Gold, the shrine will raise your Pokemon's attack, but lower the defense. As with Lugia, Ho-oh's level will be dependant on your Pokemon's level. For example, the highest Pokemon Lv you have is 44, then Ho-oh will be Lv50. Again with Lugia, Ho-oh cannot be used in Orange Island battles.

A plus side to the No Legendary rules of the Orange Islands, when you complete it and think the game is over, you'll be wrong. Back in Johto, a brand new battle tower will open, welcoming Pokemon of all shapes and sizes. And here's a spoiler, any Legendary that you didn't catch, like Entei or Zapdos, even Lugia and Ho-oh, some special trainers may have them in their arsenal. It'll be a good way to test attacks and prepare for when you find and catch them in the wild.
So, again, December 1, this game will be out, and planned to out sale Diamond and Pearl. Pure Silver and Solid Gold are long awaited games and everyone who's anyone will pick up at least one copy. With the biggest world to unlock, the ablility to trade from ALL the games, and the fond memories of the Johto region, Pure Silver and Solid Gold will easily be the best game out there.

People are so anxious for a remake and have been kidded so many times, it has just gotten old. They want the real thing.
If they want it enough, Nintendo will stop making new versions and just remake a version for the extra money.

Akai just means not to make your post a run-on sentence and to separate things with punctuation.
You know, what you could always do is buy a few new Crystal carts on eBay or somewhere and trade things over from the old to the new. When your cart finally does die, you will have backed up your old data.

When it comes to games so old, I strongly recommend a ROM. Do at least own the game though, it helps you in court :p.

well thats a good idea but there a problem with that,1) i dont have the money 2)i dont use ebay right now and 3)i dont have a credit card if i have to use one for ebay.

You could just replace the battery on it. I remember we used to have a thread on it... I'm pretty sure it doesn't cost much, and It's easy. You should google it. Or maybe some people here know about it.

Also if they do make a remake I wish the wild pokemon where at a higher level like around 70-80 or something, that way it will be easier to level up your pokemon to 100
Well, in D/P the wild Pokemon get up to Lv63... There's also those trainers to fight.

Ya but it will be more better to have pokemon at your pokemon's current level to fight,say if they had a new area where the pokemon would be as strong as your highest level pokemon, like having your level 100 pokemon on your team and all the wild ones be at 100.

Here's a crazy idea. When you breed your Pokemon, maybe there can be a handling section where you can wash or brush or something your Pokemon to raise the friendship.

O_O Psychic much? I was just thinking about breeding in the anime and how breeders raise Pokemon specially instead of just hatching billions of eggs and then ignoring the babies. It'd be great to interact with the Pokemon more.
The idea came from a DS Harvest Moon game. The player can brush, wash, ect, the horses, cows, and sheep.
If not, that'll make an awesome Pokemon Breeder game. They have Ranger. Why not Pokemon Breeder? This way, you can find Pokemon in the Breeder game and breed them in that game and Pal Park them over to another game! It'll be perfect!

I own all the GC Harvest Moon games, and you can do the same there. You can shear your sheep, ride and brush your horses, milk your cows. It's sooo cool.
Would be awesome if they'd have that in the remake (provided they make it). Like, getting to brush Rapidash, shear Mareep, and milk Miltank ^_^
That'll give you some Moo Milk... Like one pint? a day. And I only used the DS game for an example... because of the touch screen.

That would be so cool! Or maybe Pokemon Farmer or something xD Like My Pokemon Ranch, but you raise Pokemon that are like farm animals. They could even make a new chicken Pokemon just for it. [[Torchic isn't really the best example of a chicken... what kind of chicken kicks butt when it gets older? xD]] Maybe they could stick it in Platinum, too, where it can make its debut.

I would love a G/S/C remake. Esspecially since it was my favorite game on color. If they ever plan on making it. It will take a while because they already have the originals. Wonder what the new sprites would like though.

Doubtfully the only thing majorly different will be several new frames of animation. I could also imagine the sprite changing to its attack, such as opening its mouth.

I personally hope that they will make a GSC remake. It was hinted in diamond and pearl that they would make one, with Jasmine and all. It is my favourite generation. And anyway, you can't complete the pokedex because you can't get all the Johto pokemon. So, it's very likely that they will make a re-make for Generation 2.
