Chapter 1: The note.
One morning, Elektro woke up to find a note on the ground next to his bed. He picked it up and read it through, before waking Pyro up.
"Pyro! Pyro, wake up! Look at this! The Guild's going on another expedition, and it's apparently going to be a big one. Chatot says that any graduated team can apply to take part. Let's go!"
"Ugh... wha'?"
"Pyro, wake up, already!"
"Oh, s..sorry. An expedition? Where to?"
"That's the point, they don't know what's there."
"Well, in that case, it'll be somewhere out to sea, won't it?"
"I guess so. Does it matter?"
"No, not at all. Let's go."
The pair left Sharpedo Bluff and made their way through the busy Treasure Town to the Guild. All the townspeople were opening their shops and facilities, and many greetings were exchanged, as usual. Pyro and Elektro always went to the Guild in the morning, since they'd then get first choice on missions. After all, they had many rival teams, each one striving to do better.
"You're still not awake, are you Pyro?" said Elektro as Pyro tripped over his own feet.
"No, I'm not."
"Well hurry up! We want to get there before we get held up by a rival!"
They continued a little way, then Elektro stopped.
"Speak of the devil, look who's there."
It was Team Darkness. More specifically, the leader and his two highest operatives: Lucario, Weavile and Honchkrow. They ignored Team MasterCrew's approach, and they exchanged suspicious glares as they passed.
"I don't like the look Lucario had in his eyes," remarked Elektro. "I think he's up to no good. We should keep an eye on him."
Meanwhile, Lucario was telling his operatives: "Look at that, Team MasterCrew look like they're going for the expedition. No doubt they'll be accepted on the spot, given their reputation. If we can get in too, this may be our chance to be rid of them!"
They snickered and followed Pyro and Elektro at a distance, casually walking along the path to the Guild.
The first thing Pyro and Elektro did on arriving at the Guild was to check the Outlaw noticeboard. After all, these were the missions that paid off more and earned more reputation. Amazingly, there didn't seem to be any criminals worth going after, so they left the few that were there for the other teams to take care of. The mission noticeboard was equally empty.
"This is more than a little suspicious..." mused Pyro. "Why are there no good missions?"
They considered it a moment, then Elektro slapped his head.
"Of course, the briefing isn't over yet! Dugtrio hasn't been able to update the boards!"
Just then a shout came from down below.
"That's the call to work. The updates will be here soon..."
Indeed, the noticeboards swivelled around.
A minute later they span back, with new missions of all levels.
"Yes! Look at this!" said Pyro. "There's a Joy Seed reward for this one!"
"Quick, go for it!"
But just then Lucario made his appearence.
"I'll take that," he said. "Can't have you two getting any stronger than you are already, can we? Otherwise you might just win our next fight."
"Lucario," said Elektro mockingly, "we've won all our fights so far."
"... So you have. Well, we'll be having that Joy Seed anyhow. See you around, rookies!"
He and his crew left.
"How dare he? After all we've done? I mean... he wouldn't be alive if we hadn't saved the world..."
"Don't let it bother you, Elektro. The expedition will doubtless present plenty of opportunity to get stronger..."
"Hush, he's listening to us."
"Ach, so. Er kann nicht Deutsch verstanden. Also, gehen wir mit die anderen Teams?"
"Ja, wir gehen mit."
"Also komm, sehen wir der Meister."
The pair descended to the bottom floor, greeting everyone there. They entered the Guildmaster's room and presented themselves for consideration in the expedition.
"Ah, yes," said Chatot. "I was hoping you'd come. Your types might be useful. So, you want to come, you're in. We leave in a few days. You'll get a message when we're ready."
"Excellent!" exclaimed Wigglytuff. "Yes, quite excellent. With Team MasterCrew, there's nothing we can't do ~♪"
"Thank you, Chatot and Wigglytuff," said Elektro. "We'll be ready for anything! So... where are we headed?"
"It's a place so far away, it's off the edge of the Wonder Map."
"Wow! That far!"
"Yes. Blastoise will be towing a large raft with the selected expedition participants on board. We suspect there's an island out there, but it could just be a mirage. Whatever the case, we're going there to find out for sure."
Team MasterCrew took their leave and returned to Treasure Town.
"This is going to be so exciting!" said Pyro. "But we mustn't forget to prepare ourselves adequately. For a start, we'll take about twenty Reviver Seeds... just in case. We also need five Heal Seeds, ten Oran Berries, the Purple Bow and the Scope Lens. And three Max Elixirs. That should suffice, but just in case, add an Escape Orb or two to the list, and make sure we've got food."
"Yes, sir!" said Elektro. He managed to keep a straight face for about five seconds before bursting out laughing. He began to gather the items, some from Sharpedo Bluff, others from storage.
Meanwhile Pyro checked with the Kecleon Brothers to see if they had any Reviver Seeds that day, but they didn't. However, a small stock was supposed to be coming in, and hadn't yet arrived. They were quite worried about it, and asked if Pyro's team could look into it. Pyro said they'd be delighted to, and asked where the stock should be.
"It should be in Apple Woods by now, but we haven't heard a thing from the traders. I'm worried about them..."
"We'll find them. You can be sure of that."
"I hope you do."
Once they were together again, Pyro told Elektro about the Kecleon's problem. Elektro agreed they should help immediately. They readied themselves in front of the Guild and made their way towards Apple Woods.
