A little one-shot I got an idea for yesterday:
I gathered electricity in my body upon my trainer's command. My wool was doubling in volume from the buildup of electricity; I could feel it. I released the charge in a jagged energy beam, which chased down the marill I was battling. It shocked her horribly, and I winced apologetically as she cried out in pain.
"Nice job, Mareep!" my trainer called out to me, lifting my spirits momentarily, "Finish it off with a Tackle!" I nodded and complied, rushing at Marill, who was struggling to stand, much less do anything to defend herself.
"I'm sorry!" I called, though my trainer would take it as a battle cry. I slammed into her, and she went flying and landed a yard or so away. Her trainer recalled her Pokemon and threw a bag heavy with coins at us.
"Great battle," she said, "Your mareep is really strong." With that she turned and walked away.
"Goodbye! I'm sorry!" I called after them, though I knew she wouldn't understand me. My trainer wrapped her arms around me in a hug, whispering praise in my ear.
But a tug beneath my feet put the moment on hold.
"Huh?" I said, stepping back. My trainer released me and looked at me, confusion in her eyes.
"What's wrong?" she asked, but I couldn't answer her.
My body was glowing white. Wool was shrinking away from my body and gathering in curls on top of my head and in a ring around my neck, leaving my body chilled. My spine bent and twisted, becoming foreign. It was suddenly uncomfortable to stand on my four legs, and I fell back to sit on my rear. My front legs shortened, forming arms, and my back legs lengthened, with a toenail pushing up from my feet. My face lost baby fat, becoming much more slender. Color returned to my body and the white glow faded away. I looked down to find my wool white and my body pink. What had happened to my thick yellow fleece and blue head and feet? I was changed now, and when I tried to speak my voice was different as well.
I looked up to my trainer, hoping she would have an answer.
"Oh, my goodness! You evolved!" she said, seemingly ecstatic. Hm. Maybe it wasn't so bad being different. I stumbled over to her, completely unused to walking on only two legs. She swept me up in another hug, and whispered two words in my ear.
"Congratulations, Flaaffy."
