Pokemon Battle!

[Nytz]

you are a trainer, strolling across the land; fresh air, green trees, when suddenly you make eye contact with another trainer! Nope, there's no running from a trainer battle! The battle music plays, and now your heart's pumping! It's time to battle!

alright here's the rules:
you send out one pokemon at a time, particularly a pokemon you claimed in "Pokemon Claim Game ^^". the battle ends when that one pokemon "faints". You can always play again with a different pokemon afterward as long as you claimed it in "Pokemon Claim Game ^^"
up to 4 people can jump into the battle, but it has to be in teams of 2. If there comes a time where it is two trainers against one, then the outnumbered trainer can use 2 pokemon, but only if that situation occurs. If nobody else comes up to battle, then that is the only time you may use another pokemon as well.

the object of the game is to send out a pokemon and try to outdo your opponent or opponents until they give up.

Absol appears, crouching down, ready for battle.

Afton is walking along a small dirt path among a lush green area. She makes eye contact with another Trainer, who sends out a beautiful female Absol. With a nod of her head, Afton matches the opponent's Pokemon in beauty with her Espeon, who bounds gracefully from her ball and stretches lazily.

"C'mon, sweetie, we can take her!" calls Afton, becoming excited from the thought of battle.

"Give 'em a Shadow Ball!"

[Nytz]

"Patience, Destiny" Nytz said. "Wait for the right moment to strike."

Destiny, ever alert as always endured the blow, in order to get a sure effective counterattack

"Now!" Nytz shouted. "It is time to show our lovely opponent how you recieved the nickname, 'Beautiful Predator'. Use Sucker Punch!"

Destiny sprung to life! with glowing claws , she lunged in to attack Espeon!

[3speon]

Espeon is caught off guard. She leaps back, but is still hit full force by Destiny's attack. She is thrown backward and manages to land on her feet, only faltering slightly.

Afton gasps.

"D-double Team!" she cries after she catches her breath.

Espeon shakes herself out and then closes her eyes, concentrating. Multiple copies of Espeon appear around her, and then the copies run in a circle. It seems impossible to figure out which is the real Psychic Pokemon. Even Afton herself, who was watching closely, cannot distinguish the real Espeon from the fakes.

[Nytz]

"hmm... so she switched to defense..." Nytz mumbled to himself. "Smart choice"

Destiny wheeled around, unsure of which was real and which was decoy.

"Don't lose your cool." Nytz said. "relax... and use Swords Dance!"

Destiny took a deep breath, and focused her mind on striking the prey. Her strength was stimulated to an incredible level.

[3speon]

"Perfect, hon. You know what to do next," Afton tells her Pokemon and the multiple copies of it.

The Espeon clones begin to mewl in unison.

"Pe... on! Pe... on!" they cry eerily. Afton is accustomed to their song. She is unaffected by her Pokemon's Hypnosis attack. The Espeons' eyes glow red, and they stare intently at Destiny, still singing together.

[Pokemaster]

A young trainer was walking along the road. He had with him a large Arcanine.

"Well, Blaze, who shall we battle?"

There was no one in sight... The Arcanine howled.

"Well, looks like we just wait..."

[Akai]

Another trainer walked up, happy to finally see someone. She took a PokeBall, "Let's go, Houndoom!" She hurled the PokeBall and released her Pokemon. "Get 'im!" Houndoom ran for the Arcanine, growling as he stopped inches from the other Pokemon.

[Pokemaster]

The trainer and Arcanine whipped around, recognizing the sound.

"Houndoom, eh?" The boy, Marx, looked across the road, seeing a female trainer.

The Arcanine howled, ready for battle.

"Alright, I accept your challenge. Blaze, front and center!"

Blaze leaped forward, crouching directly in front of the Houndoom.

[Akai]

[Marx!? O_O;; ]

The trainer walked up, "Fine. Choose your Pokemon. I choose Houndoom... since this is your doom." She smirked.

[Pokemaster]

"So you think..."

Blaze was ready to go.

"Blaze, let's get some assurance first... Agility!"

The large fox-like creature began circling around the Houndoom, getting faster and faster.

[Akai]

"Calm, Houndoom... Wait for it. Now, use Dark Pulse!"

[Pokemaster]

Blaze was hit directly and knocked off his feet. He got back up and growled.

"Alright, Blaze, let's do this! Extremespeed!"

The Arcanine moved so fast it was invisible, then it hit Houndoom.

[Akai]

Houndoom yelled in pain. His trainer laughed, "Good! Thunder Fang!"

Houndoom's jaws sparked and whipped around, chomping on Arcanine.

[Pokemaster]

He howled in pain, and Kai quickly sprayed a Paralyze Heal on him.

"Alright, if that's the way they wanna fight, let's hit them right back!"

Blaze stood up again. "Thunder Fang, Blaze!"

He leaped forward and crunched down on the front leg of the Houndoom.

[Akai]

Houndoom howled in pain. "Dirty trick! Dark Pulse again! Let him regret getting that close to you." Houndoom howled, exploding dark energy out.

[Pokemaster]

The energy hit Blaze and sent him flying, doing a backflip and landing on his back. Kai ran forth. "Blaze... Are you alright?"

There was no answer from him.

"Alright... Time for plan B. Go, Dragona!"

He threw a Pokeball and a long silvery blue dragon emerged.

[Akai]

"Whoa... what is that? I thought this was a one on one battle!"

[Pokemaster]

He grumbled. "Fine, whatever. You win."

He tossed a small bag of money to her and walked on.

[Akai]

"No. Wait..." She picked up his money. "I don't want your money. I just want to battle. Let's go." She tossed it back to him, "I'm keeping with Houndoom. He's still excited from the previous battle."

[Nytz]

(This is Awsome!!! Keep This Up!
But Yeah, only one poke at a time... thought if no one else comes along, I guess you can keep going.)

[Pokemaster]

Kai walked off. "Forget it. Maybe another time. I need to take Blaze to the Pokemon center."

[Akai]

"Fine then! Keep your stupid money as well. You can buy yourself a backbone in battling." She stormed off, Houndoom following.

[Nytz]

"Perfect, hon. You know what to do next," Afton tells her Pokemon and the multiple copies of it.

"Pe... on! Pe... on!" they cry eerily. Afton is accustomed to their song. She is unaffected by her Pokemon's Hypnosis attack. The Espeons' eyes glow red, and they stare intently at Destiny, still singing together.

Meanwhile, back in route ???

the Battle of Absol And Espeon continues

Destiny began behaving strangely in response to Espeon's hypnosis. "what's this?" Nytz said. "Destiny? Hey, DESTINY!! Snap outta it, Girl!"
But it was no use. *Destiny swayed back and forth, then suddenly collasped into a deep sleep with a thud.*
...Now what? Nytz asked himself. He gazed at Destiny who was sound asleep. Didn't expect this unscheduled nap in the middle of battle...

<<It's 3speon. I'm feeling lazy and I'm not going to log out. :P>>

Afton grins in triumph.

"Give 'er another Shadow Ball, girlie," she tells Espeon and company. The clones condense into the real Espeon, who is standing far off from the others. She gathers dark energy in front of her mouth, and, with a forward thrust, hurls it toward the sleeping Destiny. She backs away then, expecting a repeat of Destiny's former turn just in case so she will be ready.

[Nytz]

Nytz watched helplessly as Destiny was striken by another shadow ball.
"hmm... those shadow balls may not be as effective... but they still add up in damage" Nytz mumbled.
Destiny slowly rises up, shaking off her drowsiness. She retuned to her crouching position, waiting in anticipation for Nytz's command.
"Alright, baby. We're back!" Nytz said. "I admire your skills, trainer. I'm afraid I must end this now, however. Destiny, it is time."
Destiny began to react. Her eyes began to glow, and suddenly she was cloaked inside a whirlwind. Nearby trees, grasses and plants began to tear out of their roots to be shreaded by powerful gales of wind.

[3speon]

<<Kay, I'm back.>>

Afton narrows her eyes.

"Hmm... 'Kay, hon, try another Double Team," says Afton to her Espeon as she edges closer to her. She leans down and whispers in her Pokemon's ear, "Destiny's covered in leaves. She may not see which one is you, but circle to be on the safe side, got it?"

Espeon nods with a mew and concentrates. The clones are back and they run, once again, in a circle. Afton has watched carefully and she can now pick out the real thing.

[Nytz]

The whirlwind finally reached full velocity.
"well, this was a fun battle..." Nytz said. "Destiny! RAZOR WIND!"
Destiny unleashed massive gales of winds sharp enough to penatrate diamond in all directions! sharp gashes appeared in the road and on the barks of trees. Nytz tried to take cover behind a tree, just before it was cut cleanly in half. the gales began to kick up massive walls of dust that soon blinded all vision...

Afton and Espeon are once again caught off guard. In the space of a split second, Afton shoots a look at Espeon, and her Pokemon's eyes glow to show she understands.

A bluish light envelopes Espeon, and she stares the growing twister down as it comes swiftly toward her. She seems to grab a hold of the whirlwind with her mind. A glow identical in color to the once around Espeon surrounds the tornado, and it seems reined in for a moment before Espeon sends it hurtling forward, right back at Destiny.

[Nytz]

Afton and Espeon are once again caught off guard. In the space of a split second, Afton shoots a look at Espeon, and her Pokemon's eyes glow to show she understands.

Destiny frantically responded. she solidified thin air into a thick barrier just before the rebounded Razor Wind closed in on her! Nytz braced himself as the heavy winds pushed him backwards a couple feet. the hood on his metallic black cloak was blown backwards off his head. The winds finally subsided.
"Oh no that little Espeon didn't use our own attack against us!" Nytz growled. "the opponent is better than I thought. I definately underestimated this one..."

[3speon]

"Dang," Afton mutters to herself, "He's good... But we can handle this one!"

Afton grins at Espeon.

"We got this. Destiny doesn't look like she can take much more. She had to get a full Protect up in mere seconds. You know what that's like... Exhausting. We almost lost that one, remember?" Afton pauses as Espeon shudders, "We'll take her out. Play with our strengths... Double Team, then Shadow Ball, quick!"

Espeon obeys instantaneously, leaping into the air and multiplying. The clones haven't even touched the ground before they each send charged Ghost-type energy orbs at Destiny.

[Akai]

The spunky female trainer sighs, walking around, wanting to battle. She withdraws her Houndoom and heaves another sigh, looking around for any trainers.

[Pokemaster]

After having been to the Pokemon Center, Marx returns to the route in search of a new challenger.

[Akai]

She heaves a sigh, tossing out a PokeBall, releasing Cubone.

(I thought your name was Marx... o_o)

[Pokemaster]

(Heh, my bad. Thanks for the pointout)

"What? You again, eh? This time it's not going to be as easy! Go Dragona!"

He threw a Pokéball into the air and out came a long, silvery, snake-like dragon.

[Akai]

"You? ...Heh, boring." She yawned, "Go Cubone..."

Cubone nodded, walking out to battle.

[Pokemaster]

"She won't be thinking that for long," he muttered to himself.

"Dragona, let's start things off in your favor! Rain Dance!"

Marx watched as the Dragon Pokemon sang to the skies and it began to downpour.

[Akai]

She laughed a little, "Cubone likes the rain. I can't keep it out of it."

Cubone smiled as he splashed in a few puddles that were forming.

[Pokemaster]

"Hm.. perfect. He's distracted."

"Alright, Dragona, summon the tides! Surf!"

A giant wall of water appeared and Dragona rode it as Marx watched the attack head straight for Cubone.

[Akai]

Cubone looked as his trainer laughed, "Cubone, Ice Beam!" The little Pokemon reared back his head, firing a huge beam of chilling power.

[Pokemaster]

"No! Dragona get out of the way!"

He spoke too late and the beam of ice hit her directly, sending her flying back to him.

"Alright... let's even this out then! Use Ice Beam right back!"

The silvery dragon launched forth a burst of ice just like the Cubone.

[Akai]

"Quickly, Cubone! Dig!"

The Pokemon sprang up and burrowed underground just as the ice hit.

[Pokemaster]

"Hmm... Defense eh?"

He looked to Dragona, who was still as lively as before.

"Alright, use agility. Don't let them be able to attack."

The dragon slithered around at incredible speeds.

[Akai]

The trainer laughed, "Cubone, Secret Power." With Secret Power's random power, it was unsure what was going to happen, but the young trainer knew. She's planned this from the moment Dragonair's Ice Beam was launched. The ground shook a little, the ice that was on the ground from the missed attack cracked.... Suddenly they pointed up and sprayed everywhere as Cubone hurled himself up, putting some force behind the deadly shards.

[Pokemaster]

This time, Dragona was fast enough to avoid the attack.

"Alright, they've resurfaced! Now Dragona!! Call forth the spirits of ice! Blizzard!"

Dragona shot out a chilling blast of ice that shot directly for Cubone.

[Akai]

"Wait.... Rain Dance, Surf, Ice Beam, Agility.... and now Blizzard? Just how many moves does that thing know!?"

[Pokemaster]

"Hm, wouldn't you like to know?"

[Akai]

"I actually would... Cubone, dodge it and use Ice Beam. Blizzard has terrible accuracy!" Cubone nodded and ran around.

[Pokemaster]

"Hah!" He watched as the Cubone got ready to fire.

"Alright, Dragona, let's allow the ice to meet! Ice beam right back at them!"

Dragona once again burst forth the icy beam.

[Akai]

"..." She closes her eyes, looking away. The ice hits poor Cubone and he flies back, skidding to a stop on the ground. "...I'm sorry, Cubone."

[Pokemaster]

"Well, if you're not going to try..."

The dragon screeched. "Alright, Dragona, summon the tide! Surf!"

[Akai]

"Stop! That's enough...." She withdraws Cubone and tosses his money back at him.

[Pokemaster]

"I thought all you wanted was to battle?" he asked, mockingly.

Marx returned Dragona to her Pokeball.

[Akai]

"Not when you nearly kill my Pokemon! You are only allowed four moves, so according to Pokemon League regulations, I win."

[Pokemaster]

"Fine then... Keep the money!"

He slung it back at her and stormed off.

[Akai]

She picked it up and threw it at him, "Stop being a spoiled brat. You won! Fine! You can have your money back!"

[Pokemaster]

"No! I don't want it! Being a trainer isn't about the money!"

He picked up the money and slung it as hard as he could into the air.

[Akai]

She watches as a Honchkrow flies overhead and snatches the money, flying off.

"You're right... How about another battle? I'll let you pick my Pokemon." She smiled.

[Pokemaster]

"Hmph... No thanks. I think I'd rather face a different trainer."

He walked on, ignoring her completely.

[Akai]

She sighs, shoving her hands in her pockets, walking off in the opposite direction.

[Nytz]

"Dang," Afton mutters to herself, "He's good... But we can handle this one!"

Afton grins at Espeon.

"We got this. Destiny doesn't look like she can take much more. She had to get a full Protect up in mere seconds. You know what that's like... Exhausting. We almost lost that one, remember?" But it was too late. the shadow ball struck with powerful force! Destiny let out a weak cry, swaying left, then right. she layed on the ground with exaustion. she had no further will to fight.
"Destiny... return." Nytz returned the fatigued Absol to her pokeball. "I'm proud of you, girl." He kissed the pokeball before sticking it in his pocket. He glanced at the trainer, and nodded. "that was truly a wonderful display of skill and beauty, trainer." He tossed 300$ to the ground. "Your Espeon is well trained-- to be able to take out a pokemon even when full of disadvantages... But next time we meet-- we shall dance again...and win!" Nytz swaggered away, and disappeared through the horizon.

[Kaboom]

Adz suddenly realised that there was a huge fightzone! With lots of trainers! Woot!

Now... who can I challenge?
Meh, I'll wait for someone to challenge me.

[Nytz]

Nytz continue walking, the sun was dimming rapidly, and slowly the stars began to dot the sky. A beautiful platinum moon hung overhead, causing the cresent moon designs on his hooded cloak to glow lununously.

"ahh... my favorite part of the day-- Night." He hurled out a pokeball and out came a gougeous Umbreon with glossy metallic black fur and moonlight blue rings that glowed lustrously in response to the moonlight. Umbreon leaped around happily bringing a slight smirk on Nytz face. "Yeah, I thought you'd enjoy this."

suddenly, he saw a silohette of a trainer from within the moonlight. Nytz looked at his Umbreon. "Umbra, you wanna play?"
the Umbreon squealed with delight.

[Kaboom]

As night fell, Adz heard the excited cries of an Umbreon. He stood watching, and saw the Umbreon's Trainer. The Trainer said something to the Umbreon, who was obviously delighted at what he had just said.

Adz waited, hoping that this pair would challenge him.

[Nytz]

Nytz hurried after Umbra who was so eager to play with the other trainers that she ran ahead of him. Umbra soon stopped at the opposing trainer, crouching down playfully, obviously wanting to battle. the moonlight gave the Umbreon a boost of vitalty and energy. Nytz soon caught up with Umbra.
"Hello, trainer." Nytz said. "shall we have this dance?"

[Kaboom]

"If you are certain you wish to do so, I will gladly battle. My name is Adz. What's yours?"

[Nytz]

"Name's Nytz. I specialize in lunar pokemon training. i see you met my Umbreon, Umbra. She's a playful little ball of energy-- lunar energy. so, are you ready?"

[Kaboom]

"In three seconds, Umbra will meet her downfall. Go! Kaboooooom!"
He threw, not a Ball of any kind, but a shard of a glowing gray crystal. It glowed brighter and Kaboom the Blaziken materialised.
"Where is my opponent?" he asked. "Oh, an Umbreon. You're not one of Lucario's gang, are you? No. You don't have the Darkness. Fight me, if you dare."

[Nytz]

The umbreon had a puzzled look on her face for a moment. then she contiued crouching down, wagging her tail playfully.
"meeting new trainers-- and oddballs everyday..." Nytz mumbled. "alright then, Lets us dance!"
*The battle music played
*Challenger Adz would like to battle!*
Challenger Adz sent out Blaziken!

Nytz: Go Umbra!

"Alright, umbra, let's play." Nytz thought of the battle of Absol vs. Espeon. Hmm... alright. let's try this out. "Umbra! let's start this with double team!"
Umbra responded eagerly. she began to dash around through the shadows of the night, forming elusive copies of herself around Blaziken!

[Kaboom]

Even Kaboom's trained eye could not discern the copies from the real thing, mostly because of the lack of light to see by.
"Kaboom!" called Adz. "Use your Dark Vision to see through those copies!"
"I was about to," replied Kaboom.

His eyes gave off a lime-green glow and, to his vision, the multiple Umbreon condensed into the one, real, one.

Kaboom and Adz weren't ready to attack yet. The Umbreon could have any number of attacks assigned to her...

[Nytz]

Umbra gazed back at her trainer, anxiously waiting for the next move.
"alright, Umbra. let's keep on the wary side-- I sense a... famillar energy vibe from this trainer. Use the powers of the dark side of the moon-- Faint Attack!"
Umbra became cloaked in the shadows of night again. Then she suddenly reappeared right behind Blaziken to deliver a powerful strike!

[Kaboom]

"Kaboom, watch out!"
Kaboom was not one to fall for Dark tricks, and this was no exception. He jumped over Umbra at the exact moment she tried to attack. She missed, and Kaboom landed behind her. Still he did not attack.

[Nytz]

...?!
how did he manage to evade an unavoidable attack?! Nytz thought.
Umbreon stood her grounds, growling playfully at the Blaziken.
I'm not liking the way this is going, Nytz thought. "Umbra, use double team, with a little twist of Faint Attack!"
Umbra once again consealed herself in the shadows while forming more illusory copies that faded in and out of reality. All at once she began to strike swiftly, comming from all directions!

[Kaboom]

"Time to end this," said Kaboom.
He was completely undeterred by the dozens of images, among which was the real one. He exploded in a huge Blast Burn attack, which spread in all directions and was almost sure to hit.

[3speon]

Afton grins broadly at her Espeon, then scoops up the sack of money Nytz tossed to the ground. She gives Espeon a hug and encourages her with gleeful praise.

"Oh, you were amazing, sweetie! You did it! You're so great, you know that? Awesome job... Wanna get another one?" Afton asks Espeon. Espeon nods furiously, a glint of excitement appearing in her eyes.

"Alright! That's what I like to hear! Here... have a berry," says Afton, extracting a Sitrus Berry from her pack and handing it to Espeon, who takes it carefully and chews slowly and daintily to avoid slopping juice down her front. The Pokemon is visibly revitalized, and she mews excitedly to her Trainer.

"Okay, let's go," says Afton, leading her Pokemon towards the horizon, searching for another challenger.

[Nytz]

"Time to end this," said Kaboom.
He was completely undeterred by the dozens of images, among which was the real one. He exploded in a huge Blast Burn attack, which spread in all directions and was almost sure to hit.

Umbra was struck hard with the walls of fire comming from all directions! She cried out in pain.
"Umbra!" Nytz shouted. "hang in there, girl!" The umbreon looked to be in critical condition, but he knew that blast burn required the pokemon to recharge before striking again. Blaziken was finally exposed. Nytz looked up at the moon, a smirk crept on his face, and soon it grew to a grin. "Umbra," Nytz said. "........ Moonlight."
Suddenly, a beam of beautiful radiant moonlight poured down on Umbra, causing her blue rings to suddenly flash with such divine luminosity. Her glossy black fur became glazed in a aura of rich moonlight, that cleansed her of all fatigueness, stress, and damage. Her eyes twinkled, glowing vividly, filled with life. She was now more than ever determined to win this battle, even with the abnormal abillities the opponent's Blaziken possessed.
"Now," Nytz said, feeling refreshed himself by the moonlight. "let us remember, we have the power of Luna Moon on our side. Let's go, baby! Use a lunar charged Quick Attack while Blaziken is still resting! We can do this!"
Umbra dashed with speeds that literally pierced through the spacial time barrier! Filled with the tranquil powers of the moon, Umbra shot towards Blaziken, streaking moonlight behind her! She looked like a shooting star as she closed in on Blaziken!

Kaboom could do nothing to block the glowing black blur shooting towards him, but he was strong, and took the hit without feeling the pain.
He knew that using a Blast Burn again would yield the same effect, and he noticed that Umbra seemed to take her power from the moonlight.

He summoned a small amount of Dark power and flung it in the air. It expanded and completely hid the moon from view. He waited to see what effect it would have on the Umbreon.

[Nytz]

both Umbra and Nytz watched as the moon became concealed in darkness. Umbra luminous glow began to wane.
".............Smart move." Nytz mumbled. "...what more can we try? The Blaziken appears to be inpervious to all dark abillities..." He gazed a his bewildered Umbreon. "Looks like we have no other options. Umbra, Quick Attack!"
Umbra darted at incredible speed again and lunged at the Blaziken once more.

[Kaboom]

Kaboom cushioned the hit from the relatively weak attack. He then countered with a Sky Uppercut attack.

[Akai]

Lyra stood around, waiting for another challenge. She was bored, and was up for anything, for the moment. She huffed, "...Where is everyone?"

[Kaboom]

A strange deformation of time left Adz and Kaboom standing several days later. They looked around, realised what had happened, and were unphased by it. Kaboom returned to his Twilight Crystal Shard.

Adz noticed another person standing nearby. Maybe she was up for a challenge? He walked up and asked her for a battle.

[Akai]

"A battle...?" She smirked, "Maybe. Two on two? Pick two numbers between 1 and 6 and let's go!"

[Kaboom]

Adz smiled. "A double battle would be a pleasure. I'm going for two and three."
He drew a yellow glowing orb and a black lump that sucked all light from around it.

[Akai]

"Two and three? Ok,... but not a double battle. Just two Pokemon each." She took a PokeBall, "Sorry for the misunderstanding. Houndoom, flame on!" She threw out her PokeBall and released a Houndoom, itching for battle.

[Kaboom]

"No, no problem. Single's fine."
Adz tossed the yellow orb in the air.
"Sparx! I invoke you! Come to my aid!"
Instantly, black clouds swirled in the sky. The orb hovered and flared bright. A thunderbolt hit it, and there stood Sparx the Luxray in all her splendour. The clouds dissipated and she took up a battle pose, sniffing the air to get the scent of her opponent.

"Sparx," said Adz, "You know what to do. Go in carefully and hit hard."
Sparx growled in acknowledgement and readied herself.

[Akai]

Lyra looked the enemy Pokemon. "Hm. What a nice Luxray. His coat is so shiny..." Houndoom snarled. Lyra giggled, "Okay, okay. Flamethrower!" Houndoom howled a little, spitting out a rock-melting plume of flames at Luxray.

[Kaboom]

[[Sparx is female!]]

Sparx launched a Charge Beam at the incoming Flamethrower. The two beams met and the two pushed against each other, each trying to consume the other.

[Akai]

[[Lyra doesn't know that!!]]

"Your Pokemon attacks without an order. He's pretty, but horribly trained. Maybe this battle is a waste." Houndoom huffed, going low, letting the Charge Beam sail over him.

[Kaboom]

"She is trained to defend herself, unlike your Houndoom. If she had waited for orders, she would have been hurt. Now, Sparx! Follow through with an EarthQuake!"

[Akai]

Lyra sighed, "Whatever. She's just a wild Pokemon... Houndoom, Protect yourself." He did a little bow, making a orb-like shield around himself.

[Kaboom]

Adz was angered by the insult, but Sparx was enraged.
"I'll show you wild," she said as she charged her power. The black clouds returned and she began to glow with yellow energy. she charged power like this, then suddenly released it as a powerful beam at Houndoom.

[Akai]

"...Crunch. Crush her with your fangs." Lyra spoke quietly. Houndoom rushed forward, latching onto Luxray with his fangs and closing them tight.

[3speon]

Afton was still walking, several days later. She looked, still, for a challenger to battle. Espeon mewed impatiently, bored from the lack of excitement. The two approached a forest when they heard the loud cries of battle. A luxray was battling a houndoom, and now, the houndoom looked to have the upper hand.

"Luckies... at least they're battling..."

[Kaboom]

Sparx instinctively fired off her power with a Discharge attack, her whole body flaring with electric power.

[Akai]

Houndoom was in pain, but tried to ignore it. "Hang in there.... Flamethrower!"

[Kaboom]

Sparx struggled desperately, but her power was failing.
"Sparx! Return to the orb! You've done enough!"

Sparx's body turned yellow, and she streamed into the orb. Adz's face was a picture of concentration as he prepared to throw the black stone.
"Lucario! I call upon you to fight! Reveal yourself!"

For a few moments nothing happened, then the stone became blacker still, and then purple light beamed out and condensed into Lucario.

"Lucario! Quickly get in there with an AuraSphere!"
Lucario obeyed instantly, hurling the light blue ball at Houndoom.

[Akai]

"Houndoom Protect!" Houndoom did the attack, but was knocked back a little. He was weak from the previous battle and his movement was sluggish. Lyra smiled, "Well. Interesting choice. Lucario is Fighting-Steel, correct? Houndoom is Dark-Fire. ...Fire beats Steel, but then again, Fighting beats Dark. This is going to be interesting. I want to see how much Houndoom can withstand." She pulled out a Sitrus Berry. "Do you mind if I use a berry? Just to give you a decent challenge."

[Kaboom]

"Not at all, if Lucario can use his Goggle Specs. All of his attacks are special, by the way."

[Akai]

"Go ahead. Seeing the item on a Pokemon is simply adorable." She tossed the berry on the field and Houndoom happily ate it.

[Kaboom]

Adz threw the Specs to Lucario, who strapped them around his eyes. Nobody understood how this was supposed to augment Special Attack power, but it worked, so no explanations were necessary.

When Lucario was ready, he growled and bared his fangs.

[Akai]

"Houndoom, no mercy, Flamethrower!" Lyra yelled, as her Pokemon's speed returned and he ran for Lucario, mouth a-blaze with fury.

[Kaboom]

"Lucario! Use a double AuraSphere attack!"
Lucario created an AuraSphere in each hand, and threw them: one to block the flames, the other to do damage.

[Akai]

Houndoom was hit, thrown back and hitting the ground hard. He cried in pain, blacking out. "...Good job. Very original." She withdrew Houndoom. "You picked three, right? Care to change it?"

[Kaboom]

"No, I think we'll keep number three. Unless you want to choose a different one. Entirely up to you."

[Akai]

"No, no... just curious. This is getting fun. Go, Cubone!" She hurled the PokeBall out and shows the little Pokemon. He yawned a little and rubbed at his eye. Lyra sighed, "Oh, I'm sorry, baby. I forgot this was your naptime..." Cubone shook his head, stretching a little.

[Kaboom]

"Lucario, we want to win this battle, but please try not to kill him!"
Lucario snarled, and nodded.
"OK, get started with a well-placed ShadowBall!"

The black ball of energy appeared and grew in Lucario's hands, sparking a little, then he threw the ball, aiming straight at Cubone's chest.

[Akai]

"A Ghost type attack." Lyra closed her eyes, "Let's surprise our friend, Cubone... with Ice Beam!" Cubone growled and cried out, sending out an Ice Beam at Lucario.

[Kaboom]

Lucario was surprised by the attack, but not astonished. With lightning-fast reflexes, he blocked the beam of ice with a new AuraSphere.
"Well done, Lucario, quick thinking. Now, demonstrate your power with Psychic!"

[Akai]

"Aura Sphere, Shadow Ball, Psychic... You're not much on keeping secrets, are you? I know three of your attacks. Cubone, Dig! Bide your time." Cubone nodded and burrowed underground.

[Kaboom]

"Now, Lucario, for your fourth attack! Get to it! EarthQuake!!!"
Lucario leapt up high, then crashed down to the ground with tremendous force. The shockwaves spread from his landing spot and the ground trembled.

[Akai]

Cubone fainted. Lyra withdrew it and walked off.

LAME! I wish people can be a little more creative with their attacks. Seriously.

[Kaboom]

[[Sorry, but it won the battle, didn't it?]]

[Akai]

Lyra stopped and threw some coins on the ground, "Congrats on the win. You can use the money to buy better attacks for your TM slave Pokemon." She glared back a little.

[Kaboom]

Lucario growled but knew better than to attack a human. Adz nodded curtly and picked up the money. He recalled Lucario to his black stone, then had an idea and let him back out.
"I'm going to teach you to be the best Pokémon in this universe," he said.

[Akai]

She huffed, "The best Pokemon don't attack baby Pokemon that just hatched."

[Kaboom]

"Decent Trainers don't send out baby Pokémon that have just hatched!"

[Akai]

"You picked him. I had no choice. I even opted for you to switch, but you declined."

[Kaboom]

"How was I to know it was a baby?"

[Akai]

"Oh... I see. I do apologize. I didn't realize your Pokemon was stupid, otherwise, he'd tell you. Or he must think it's fun to wail on the weak."

[Kaboom]

"Lucario is indifferent to the opponent's strength. Now if you'll excuse me, we've got work to do."
Adz led Lucario away.

[Akai]

"I agree. You have a lot of work to do. Train that beast better."

[Kaboom]

Adz scowled. "That beast is the strongest Lucario I have ever seen. The strongest Pokémon, for that matter."

[Akai]

"Ha... No, really." She laughed, "Are you serious?"

[Kaboom]

"Well, out of the many that I've seen, yes. I doubt he's the most powerful in all existance, but..."

[Akai]

"You haven't seen mine. I just use her for contest, since like all Lucario, she's a bit of a show-off."

[Kaboom]

"Oh? I am curious to know which Pokémon it is. Would you maybe like a rematch tomorrow? Lucario against your mystery Pokémon?"

[Akai]

She smiled, "Oh? A rematch? How fun. I'll see if I can get her from Prof. Elm. I hope he's not on research again." She took out her PokeGear and checked her schedule she made about him, "...Hmm. It'll be close. Tomorrow it is."

[Kaboom]

"Agreed. I'll see you then. A word of advice: don't use today's battle as any guide to tomorrow's."

[Akai]

"I never do..." She walked off, hurrying to get her secret Pokemon.

[Kaboom]

Adz was worried. What he was about to teach Lucario had never been done before, and he had no idea if it was going to work or not. He led Lucario into a large forest, where there were plenty of Pokémon, and began to train him.

[Akai]

The day passed, and Lyra went to the same spot she'd met Adz. "Hello? You here?" She pulled out a very decorated PokeBall. "I got her."

[Kaboom]

"I'm here... I could have done with another day though, as the training is incomplete. No matter, we're ready. Lucario! Come forth!"
He threw the black stone and Lucario emerged as he had done the previous day.

[Akai]

She gripped her PokeBall, covered in pink and yellow stickers. "Let's go, Lulu!" She hurled the sphere out and out burst a light pink Lucario. Sparkles from her PokeBall burst out as she flipped in the air, spinning and landing lightly on the ground, doing a polite bow and holding her pose. She looked up at the other Lucario, and then around. She wasn't in a contest. She looked back at Lyra, confused.

[Kaboom]

Adz smiled wryly.
"Another Lucario. And it's pink. Cute. Too bad my Lucario knows no emotions but hatred. I admit I had not foreseen this, but that is not a problem. Lucario! AuraSphere!"

[Akai]

"Lulu! Dodge, and use Blaze Kick!" Lulu did a few ballet-like movements and swirled around, building up power. She jumped in the air and send down a furious Blaze Kick on her opponent.

[Kaboom]

Lucario was furious that his attack had missed, so much so that he couldn't avoid the Blaze Kick. He was hurt, but was not about to let another Lucario beat him. He prepared another AuraSphere, focussing on Lulu's aura to determine where to fire, and threw.

[Akai]

"Lulu, hold your form. Build up power." Lyra smirked. Her Lucario stood its ground, letting the Aurasphere hit. "Now! Counter!" Lulu sprang forth, sending back Lucario's attack, plus more.

[Kaboom]

Lucario did not resist, choosing instead to fold the counterattack and get launched backward. The result was minimal pain. He stood up again.
"Lucario, we're going to have to be better than this. Put yesterday's training to use, and prepare to use... the Secret Plan!"

Lucario glowed bright blue, his aura intensifying a hundred times over.

[Akai]

Lulu blushed. She stared at Lucario. Lyra stared too. "...Secret plan? Lulu, be ready for anything."

[Kaboom]

Lucario's aura grew bigger and bigger, until it occupied half the space between the two. There it stopped, glowing fiercely bright. For a moment nothing happened, then black clouds approached from the horizon, swiftly responding to the aura.

They massed together in a huge tower above Lucario, swirling around and around faster and faster, and then, suddenly, a black lightningbolt ripped down so violently it tore the air around it, and struck Lucario. He winced in pain and determination, chanelling the energy. His aura turned instantly dark purple.

Then, without warning, the aura massed up and shot at Lulu, enshrouding her and inhibiting her.

[Akai]

Lyra gasped, watching Lulu be taken over by the strange power. "Stop it! What are you doing?"

[Kaboom]

"Nothing permanently damaging," said Adz.
The purple aura swirled faster and faster, building in intensity all the time. Lucario's face was twisted in pain, but he kept up the attack.

Then, suddenly, the aura swirled in, smothered Lulu, shrank to a point and returned to Lucario, having drained Lulu of all her vitality. She had had all of her energy drained forcibly in one go. Lucario used a little of the drained power to relieve his pain, but kept the rest to give it back once the battle was acknowledged as over.

[Akai]

Lulu's eyes were wide with disbelief and pain. She didn't move as she teetered and fell back, landing with a dull thump on the ground. Lyra ran to her Pokemon, shaking her, "Lulu! Lulu! Wake up!" Tears fell from her eyes, "What did you do!?" She sobbed, "Lulu!!" The pink Lucario's eyes became lazy, her eyes becoming dull and dark. They slowly closed as she became limp. Lyra shook in tears, "...Lulu."

[Kaboom]

"Her energy has been taken by Lucario," Adz explained. "When Lucario returns it, that is, once you acknowledge defeat, Lulu will recover fully with no ill effects whatsoever."

[Akai]

"....she's dead...." Lyra got up and stumbled back.

[Kaboom]

Adz was shocked. "No! That can't be! We practiced on over fifty wild Pokémon yesterday, and every single one recovered fully! How can this be?!?"

[Akai]

"You're a monster! You'll do anything to win, won't you!?"

[Kaboom]

Adz turned on Lucario. "You did that deliberately, didn't you?! You are pathetic! Just because she had the upper hand at the start of the fight, you see fit to kill her? I told you exactly what to do, you agreed, and then you went too far. So be it. You have brought your own destruction. I have no need for a Pokémon murderer!"

He pulled out the black stone and a pure white crystal from his bag. "You know how this works, Lucario. When the Light Crystal touches the Dark Stone, your aura will be extinguished. I do not want to do this, but you are a danger to others. And so, I destroy you!"

He brought the two together, but stopped, hesitant. Lucario was his best Pokémon; did he deserve to be destroyed?

[Akai]

Lyra stood up, "Stop! If you do that, you'll be no better than your Pokemon!"

[Kaboom]

"But he killed her. He killed Lulu. He could have won the battle easily with the Aura Drain, but he killed her. It's not his first kill, not by a long way."

[Akai]

She fell to her knees, picking up her Lulu. "...I'm sorry. This is all my fault. You don't belong in battle." She let a few tears fall. Slowly Lulu's eyes opened, her clear blue eyes looking up at her trainer. She coughed out a 'Lu...', smiling a little. Lyra gasped, "Lulu? You're aive?" The Pokemon nodded. Lyra smiled, laughing as she hugger Lulu, "You're alive."

[Kaboom]

Adz was still poised to bring together the Light Crystal and Dark Stone, but he was uncertain.

[Akai]

Lyra picked up Lulu, "I'm going to take you to a Pokemon Center. No more battles, I promise. Just contests."

[Kaboom]

Adz slowly put the two elements away. He was still angry at Lucario.
"You got off lucky this time, Lucario. I'm sending you on a disciplinary course. I never want to see you expose your anger again!"

He walked away, taking Lucario with him. Lucario was not sorry.

[Akai]

Lulu's aura flared a little, looking to Lucario. She pushed from her trainer's arm and limped after him.

[Kaboom]

Lucario sensed her and turned. Adz looked back too. They watched Lulu approach.

[Akai]

Lulu stopped a few feet in front of Lucario. She stared at him, bowing some.

[Kaboom]

Lucario blinked. He was thrown, and didn't know how to react.

[Akai]

Lyra walked up behind Lulu, "Regardless of what happened, Lulu thanks you for a good battle. Be grateful she's such a kind soul."

[Kaboom]

Lucario in turn lowered his head, then turned and started to walk away. Adz didn't follow.
"You're a good fighter. You just need to train specific Pokémon for battle."

[Akai]

"I don't train to win battles. I train to learn from my mistakes. Winning isn't everything. If you're the best at something, there's no room for improvement."

[Kaboom]

"Oh, but there is. There is always someone stronger somewhere, and I live to find them."

[Akai]

"How sad... I really do pity you." She turned and walked off. Lulu looked at Adz.

[Kaboom]

Adz spoke to Lulu. "I'm sorry for what you went through during that battle."

[Akai]

She just stared sadly at Lucario.

[Kaboom]

Lucario felt her gaze and turned. He slowly walked back, stopping in front of Lulu.

[Akai]

She looked down, but lifted her head at the taller Pokemon, looking into his eyes.

[Kaboom]

Something stirred inside Lucario. He knew no emotion but hate, but now... seeing this other Lucario... he began to feel things he had never felt before. He looked away; he couldn't look at Lulu, not after what he'd done.

[Akai]

Lulu smiled and got on one knee, trying to hid some laughter. Lyra walked to her a little bit, "Um.."

[Kaboom]

Lucario looked at Lulu, and tentatively held one paw out.

[Akai]

Lulu grinned, shooting up, giving Lucario a mighty headbutt on the jaw as payback. She did a flip back and landed daintily on the ground, doing a polite bow. Lyra groaned, "...Why provoke that thing any more?"

[Kaboom]

Lucario was knocked back, roared, created an AuraSphere... then stopped. He waited for a minute, holding the AuraSphere, then dimmed it until it disappeared. He nodded.

[Akai]

Lulu nodded back, turned and went back to Lyra.

[Kaboom]

Adz was impressed with Lucario's self-control. They left and went back to their training.

[Akai]

Lyra withdrew Lulu and walked on, sending her back to the lab.

[Kaboom]

[[What happens now?]]

Lucario trained long and hard, not for power, but for self-discipline and control. He learned that when he was in control of his actions, he was stronger than when he attacked blinded by anger.
