View Full Version : Diamond and Pearl Anything Thread

This could be fun. Just if you played Diamond and Pearl and want to add any trivia, you can. It can be something from other games, like type/moves/etc, but try to make it based on Diamond and Pearl. This is for celebration of Platnium, to help those who need help and just for plain fun.

You can also add your real teams and accomplishments. Please no battle requests or trading here.

I found out that Poison doesn't effect Steel Pokemon. x__x My Crobat was worthless against those annoying Bronzong.

==EDIT==

My current Pearl team

Ponyta (56) Everstone
Strength
Stomp [will trade for Sunny Day]
Solarbeam
Flamethrower

Misdreavus (56) None
Payback [will trade for Dark Pulse]
Psybeam [will trade for Psychic]
Pain Split
Shadow Ball

Luxray (56) Cheri Berry
Discharge
Thunderbolt
Iron Tail
Crunch

Empoleon (56) None
Drill Peck
Waterfall [will trade for Ice Beam, after I get to the Pokemon League]
Surf
Metal Claw [will trade for Flash Cannon]

Crobat (56) None
Fly
Confuse Ray
Poison Fang [will trade for Sludge Bomb]
Bite [will trade for X Scissor]

Garchomp (59) Exp. Share ((It really works!))
Rock Climb
Dragon Claw
Crunch
Dig [will trade for Earthquake]

Please do NOT rate my team. I just want to show my progress.

Fufufufu, I'm back....

Hey, I'll post my team, why not. I'm training everything to Lv60 before I fight the Elite Four. I remember that's what I did last time and they were still hard, but this time I EV trained my pokemon and I'm using six of them instead of four.

Oh, and I got a Lucky Egg. Sweet!

Golduck Lv51
Male
Sassy nature
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Psychic
-Shadow Claw
For some odd reason I felt an urge to teach it Shadow Claw. You never know when it might be useful.

Gastrodon Lv52
Female
Quirky nature
-Waterfall
-Dig
-Body Slam
-Hidden Power Grass (68)
I really wanted to use both Golduck and Gastrodon this time, so I decided to make this one different by using a physical moveset.

Rampardos Lv50
Male
Adamant nature
-Rock Slide
-Earthquake
-Assurance
-Avalanche
Okay, this guy is freakin awesome. I love his stats...

Clefable Lv51
Female
Quiet nature
-Grass Knot
-Thunderbolt
-Flamethrower
-Cosmic Power
I never actually use Cosmic Power unless I need to stall for some reason. I put Flamethrower there since I still had the crappy Wake Up Slap move there, and I needed something to go up against Bronzong with.

Drapion Lv60
Male
Adamant nature
-Cross Poison
-Night Slash
-X Scissor
-Accupressure
The last two moves suck. I'll probably put Brick Break in there since it gets the best coverage, and maybe even another move.

Drifblim Lv60
Male
Quirky nature
-Shadow Ball
-Fly
-Charge Beam
-Explosion
I'm glad that Fly finally has some improved power in this game, so I thought why not, I'll use it. I have yet to actually use Explosion though.

Nice Pokemon and no starter Pokemon. ^_^ Good for you! Good luck on your E4 challenge. Lv60 should be good. Worked for me. Oddly enough, I didn't even use my precious Crobat in my battles.

Yo Shee
05-26-2008, 11:37 PM
Yeah, I usually ditch my starter. I might consider Torterra if I ever get Platinum or something though. My neighbor on the other hand, of course, only uses his Monferno and will never even consider using anything else...

Akai
05-26-2008, 11:40 PM
Meh. I love my Empoleon, mainly because he's strong against a lot of Pokemon. I'm boxing my Garchomp for a Mamoswine, once some Swinub breakout and I evolve it.

Yo Shee
05-31-2008, 12:53 PM
Hey, guess what everyone. I'm the proud owner of a legit Darkrai! I just got back from the event today. I saved in front of it and resetted for a Modest one. I didn't really care about the natures, but there was a girl there about my age who really wanted a modest one, but forgot to save in front of it, so I traded it for her Naughty one.

Akai
06-01-2008, 02:03 AM
Aww... You're so sweet. ^_^ That's good karma and I bet she thanked you a lot. You're a good guy.

Well.... nothing much happened. I'm harvesting berries to get contest items. Durin berries suck to grow!

Yo Shee
06-02-2008, 09:30 PM
Heheh.... yeah, she was really happy. And her little sister was wearing Munchlax pajamas and a hat of Munchlax's head... it was pretty funny.

Berries and contests, eh? I tried contests, but they're so hard! I couldn't figure out that whole dancing thing, so that didn't help, but I think I've got it figured out now. And as for berries... I plant them, and I put honey on trees, but I always forget to water my berries and get my pokemon from the tree... so I wasted like, 6 Honeys the other day... pffff.... I oughta write reminders to myself...

Oh, and on an unrelated note... There's a rumor going around that you're Erika. Is it true? If it is... Hey, I remember you!

Akai
06-03-2008, 01:57 PM
It's not a rumor. =(

But on the Honey Trees, use the Marking Map.
And on the Berries, I normally plant in Solaceon Town and just north of it (two for one) and just west of Hearthome (by the berry guy's house).

HobbesI
06-16-2008, 07:38 PM
Yeah, I really hate those trees. I eventually gave up on getting a munchlax from them after about twenty tries.

@Akai: If you need more places to plant, then try right of Celestic town. Right when it starts fogging you go up and there's spots for four plants. That's what I use. Come to think of it my plants are probably dead there by now... I should water them...

Meh, I'll post my team. I've gotta get it good by July. That's when the pokemon battling season at the library starts. They're all level 50, except for Duskinor, which I hope to level up soon.

Togekiss @ Kings Rock
Gentle - Serene Grace
- Air Slash
- Thunder Wave
- Aura Sphere
- Roost

Staraptor @ Life Orb
Careful - Intimidate
- Brave Bird
- Close Combat
- U-Turn
- ?

Duskinor @ Cheri Berry
Bold - Pressure
- Rest
- Night Shade
- Ice Punch/Brick Break
- Will-O-Wisp

Muk @ Leftovers
Naughty - Sticky Hold
- Focus Punch
- Substitute
- Poison Jab
- Dig

Jirachi @ Mind Plate
Jolly - Serene Grace
- Zen Headbutt
- U-Turn
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon

Houndoom @ Power Herb?
Modest - Flash Fire
- Dark Pulse
- Flamethrower
- Solarbeam
- Sunny Day

Yo Shee
06-16-2008, 11:10 PM
Hm... yeah, Akai's strategy of planting near Solaceon Town was working for me since I was hatching eggs for a couple of days. By the way, here's my new team now.

Electabuzz
Male
Sassy nature
-Thunderbolt
-Ice Punch
-Substitute
-Focus Punch

Magmar
Male
Naughty nature
-Flamethrower
-Psychic
-Brick Break
-Confuse Ray

Gligar
Male
Impish nature
-Aerial Ace
-Earthquake
-Swords Dance
-Faint Attack (changing to X Scissor)

Slowpoke (soon to evolve)
Male
Calm nature
-Surf
-Confusion (changing to Psychic)
-Ice Beam
-Yawn (changing to Slack Off)
Aw, I love him! He's so cute! He's the cutest pokemon. And Slowbro's so awesome!

Lickitung
Male
Sassy nature
-Body Slam
-Lick
-Knock Off
-Rest
I really don't know what moves to give him... I thought he'd learn Counter and Seismic Toss through breeding, but no, of course, it doesn't.

Oh, would you look at that, it's everyone in my signature.

Oh, and another thing. You know that Dr. Footstep guy? What's the deal with his explanations? He thinks that my Slowpoke, Lickitung, and Gligar are all stupid or something! "Hnurrr... Me? Uhm..." It is pretty funny though...

Aaaaah! I'm on the road? What does that mean! Help!
Edit: Oh wiat, never mind, I think I get it now. I thought it meant I was on the road to being pruned or banned because I don't post too often.

HobbesI
06-17-2008, 09:08 AM
Lickitung? Hmm... His best stats are in defense but he's got no walling attacks. Or just stalling. Maybe you could try a belly drumming set:

Lickitung @ Shell Bell
Sassy - (What special ability does he have? It doesn't really matter...)
- Belly Drum (<---Learned through breeding)
- Power Whip
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide

(He's slow so watch out for fast hitting pokemon. Trick Room helps)

Yo Shee
06-17-2008, 10:06 AM
I know he sucks, but I've always wanted to try using him, basically as a joke. I'm probably going to give him Shadow Ball, Toxic, and Wring Out. He has the Own Tempo ability, just like Slowbro.

HobbesI
06-17-2008, 10:53 AM
Ah, he could be OK in a UU double battling enviroment. You could pair him up with a trick roomer. But no Power Whip? He learns it naturally.

Yo Shee
06-17-2008, 03:25 PM
I would never use any of these guys in a WiFi battle, I only use ShoddyBattle. And Power Whip's accuracy is not worthy of the awesomeness that is the rest of my team. I hate low accuracy moves. Sometimes I have moves like Hypnosis on my pokemon but I just never use them because I have no patience for moves with crap for accuracy.

HobbesI

Here's my level 30 all team.
(Btw, if anyone can "rate" my teams, I'd like it.)

Solrock @ ?
Adamant - Levitate

It looks quite alright to me. I don't rate fourth gen teams often, but that one certainly doesn't share the similar flaws that I've spotted in third gen teams.

HobbesI
06-18-2008, 01:12 PM
Well, do you have any suggestions for the items?

Oh yeah, and does anyone know what the rock at the end of victory road's other path is for? Because when I've finally gotten there, there's just a "Mirrored Rock with no writing on it".

For Lv30, they look pretty good. If you need to or want to, you can improve or change attacks.

HobbesI

Yesterday, I have first tryed out EV training. But it seems to work differently then it did in emerald. I put a whole bunch of speed EVs on my Floatzel, but it only gained 7 speed in the end. Are the EVs evenly distributed among levels now, unlike the game before, where they were just all used up in one level?

Akai
06-19-2008, 10:26 AM
Don't know. I know the Special/Physical attack types are different now. Maybe they affect EVs too. :?

kakashidragon
06-21-2008, 12:13 AM
Im planing on using a rhyperior but i dont know what moves and nature to give him any ideas? Also can you try to give EVs to the stats it will help,oh its going to be physical defense wall.

Akai
06-21-2008, 02:15 AM
I'm going to merge this with the current "anything" D/P thread. (It really doesn't need it's own.)

MY TWO CENTS::

I don't care if it's right or not...

(Holy crap-and-a-half!! Have you seen the moves this thing can learn!?)
((Attack)) ((Type)) ((Power)) ((Accuracy))
Hammer Arm -Fighting- 100/ 90
Stone Edge -Rock- 100/ 80
Earthquake -Ground- 100/ 100
Megahorn -Bug- 100/ 85
(All naturally learned.)

Rhyperior is a Ground/Rock Pokemon with an AWESOME attack. Use Physical, if you tricked it out with the right Nature. ;)

HobbesI
06-21-2008, 10:12 AM
Holy crap! 140 base attack? Jeez that's one powerful pokemon. anyways, heres my set for you.

Here's a sweeper set, just if you need it.

Rhyperior @ Choice Sash (It's so slow, it needs this.)
Jolly - Solid Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Megahorn
- Brick Break/Avalanche

Ok, Rhyperior isn't great for walling, but if you don't want to be move restricted then here's another set:

Rhyperior @ Expert Belt
Jolly - Solid Rock
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Megahorn

Akai

kakashidragon

Those are great move sets im trying a imprish nature rhyperior to see if it works for me, if not ill try a more physical one.

Akai
06-21-2008, 03:55 PM
Impish Rhyperior?! XD I don't think anything that big and mean-looking can be impish.

If you had the resources, you can just breed a lot and try a few times, but with those item evos, it's really hard. =/

HobbesI
06-21-2008, 08:08 PM
Impish? Erm, I don't think that that will be good for Rhyperior. You should rebreed for a jolly, adamant, or maybe a careful nature. Impish is -SpDef, and Rhyperior needs SpDef to stand up against water and grass typed moves.

Akai
06-21-2008, 08:14 PM
Well, the Megahorn (if the speed is good) can take care of the Grass Pokemon.

I think it can learn Thunderbolt, so that can pwn Water... but, IMO, Hobbes Choice Band moveset would be good.

Yo Shee

Impish lowers Sp Att, not Sp Def. Also, Rhyerior's so slow that even with a Jolly nature it shouldn't expect to outrun anything

Earthquake and Rock Slide/Stone Edge should hit most Water types for decent damage, and Rhyperior shouldn't be using special attacks like Thunderbolt.

Yeah, I was just saying, I was just giving further suggestions.

Akai
06-21-2008, 10:26 PM
I think the Nature is harder than the moveset. Haha. If you have to get desperate, pump it full of Carbos, or Iron, or whatever boosts the lacking stats.

HobbesI
06-22-2008, 08:41 AM
Ooh, I got impish confused with naughty. Maybe with a Choice Scarf it could outrun some of the slower pokemon, but I'd go with the choice band.

Akai
06-22-2008, 11:11 AM
It's not your fault. With natures and movesets and items, it gets confusing.

3speon
06-23-2008, 03:21 PM
Hm. What I don't understand is why everyone gets all worked up about specific ways that your Pokemon absolutely has to be. Who cares about EVs? Why can't you train your Pokemon naturally? I've always just leveled my Pokemon up and taught them moves I think they would be able to use to their advantage. Everyone I talk to is asking about movesets this and EVs that.

I know some Pokemon give different EVs. What happens if you run into a Gym Leader with a Pokemon who gives EVs that you don't want? Would you refuse a battle because of the way you were training your Pokemon?

Ugh. I guess what I'm trying to say is why do you train your Pokemon so meticulously, those of you who do? Can't you just try your best, give it your best shot without going to all the nitty-gritty in-game details? =/

Okay, on a lighter note, who here likes contests? I like them quite a bit; they're fun to do when I don't want to battle, and making Poffin is always fun. ^^ I just wanted to discuss contests with someone. Everybody mostly talks about battles. I don't even think there's a contest thread. And since this is the everything thread...

Akai
06-23-2008, 08:57 PM
Who cares about EVs?

Exactly.

I like the contests. They've gotten stupid now, with the build up. It's all about luck and timing.

3speon
06-24-2008, 01:20 AM
I like both types of contests. I think the Dance Competition is the best part of the Super Contests, and I love the evaluation part of regular Contests. It's so much fun making PokeBlocks, and trying hard to get them just right. If I could find my Emerald I'd be happy to waste my summer making loads of PokeBlocks. In Ruby the internal battery ran dry or whatever, so berries don't grow. D: I used my only berry - a pecha - on my zigzagoon yesterday xD

Grrrs. We need to replace the batteries. >_> I need to do that for my G/S/C games... Maybe I can pick up a SP lite up cheap at a pawn shop.

I'm thinking of restarting Diamond, since I never finished it. It'll give me a chance to get a Murkrow. ^_^

Same. I've got to ask my mom about that, so I can finally fix them and start contests again.

I need to find my Diamond before thinking about restarting xD I don't want to restart, though. I'm happy with mine. Now all I need to do is stop by Bebe's house and snag me an Eevee. Espeon, here I come! xD

Akai
06-24-2008, 05:49 PM
Pssshhh. Just trade Eevee over from you FR or LG game. Breed it like crazy. Unless you're super lucky, you'll never find one in the wild. I can't even find the swarming Swinub! XD

HobbesI
06-25-2008, 10:59 AM
Espeon? Join the dark side and choose the Umbreon! That's what I'm aiming for, since I don't like baton passers that much. I find that Bebe's Eevee is easier to train because it's easy to soft reset for the perfect nature.

EDIT: caught a machop and replaced Meditite. also i need help with Staravia's moves.

Akai
06-25-2008, 03:47 PM
What Lv is Staravia? IMO, you need to train more. Are you planning on exchanging Pokemon? I'm still a little iffy to restart, mainly because of the two Fire Pokemon. x_x

I know its off topic, sorry about that, but I feel in case you don't you should know that the ruby battery problem is easily fixable by linking up to a Firered, Leafgreen, or Emerald game. There's a page on serebii about it, check it out. Also, the battery that ran dry in ruby (for those who may not know, though you probably do), is not the same battery that causes older games, like red, to become unplayable.

You can get replacements at most electronic stores. However actually replacing them is hard. When the save state battery's in Ruby and Sapphire go bad it will be equally as hard.

Crap...

Well, one thing I find handy is the ability to back-up your save states with third party resources. These are almost always illegal, though they are dang handy. I would use one of these years ago quite often on all my games. It was able to save and restore about 10 Pokemon Emerald save files. So do consider researching those if you dread a file corruption.

Akai

HobbesI
06-26-2008, 10:33 AM
What is the perfect Eevee nature? =P With seven possibilities, it's hard, right?

Actually, it's not that hard, since it's only a matter of seconds to soft reset and check the Eevee's nature. And I'd suggest for these natures for these evolutions:

Umbreon - Bold/Calm/Careful/Impish
Flareon - Adamant/Jolly
Espeon - Bold (Baton Passer)/Modest or Timid (Sweeper)
Vaporeon - Bold/Calm
Leafeon - Adamant/Jolly
Jolteon - Modest/Timid
Glaceon - Bold/Timid/Modest

Akai
06-26-2008, 02:12 PM
I'm sorry for being difficult, but doesn't the attacks matter too. I mean if you have an Attack-Nature Vaporeon, and load it full of Sp Attack moves, that would kill you, wouldn't it. Your Water Pulse, or Ice Beam, or anything won't be to its full effectiveness.

HobbesI
06-26-2008, 06:28 PM
Well, I made these natures assuming people would make the pokemon a sweeper/wall of its best stat, and if someone doesn't get one of the aforementioned natures, then they can just soft reset (L+R+start+select) assuming they saved before, and get a different nature. You just keep on doing that until you get the right one. Thats why I like to train pokemon that you get instantly (or easily), and can save before, such as honey trees and trading bots.

3speon
06-26-2008, 07:20 PM

I know you'd choose umbreon for your battle reasons, but if you read my other post, you'd know I couldn't care less about the nature thing. I want an espeon because I love 'em and I don't yet have one. -glares at the game for not letting me have an eevee earlier-

And since I have experience with using them in Emerald - a lot of them, mind you xD - I know they're good Pokemon no matter what nature. My Emerald espeon pwns. No kidding.

HobbesI
06-27-2008, 10:32 AM
Well, I was talking to Akai because she asked what were good natures for Eevee, and if you've used Espeon in emerald and have experience in using it then you can pick it.

Akai
06-27-2008, 09:21 PM
I found a WiFi lounge, and it's semi-local. I could maybe trade over a Fire Pokemon from someone. If that's possible, I would restart Diamond.

No, I don't think you can. I think you only get one.

Akai
07-11-2008, 09:49 PM
Here's where you get the items:

BlackGlasses: Celestic Town, as you know, in the daytime
Wise Glasses: Same man, at night
Choice Specs: Same man (anytime, I guess)

Probably. It didn't say morning, but daytime and night were taken.

HobbesI
07-12-2008, 09:05 AM
I know that it's Morning - Wise Glasses, Day - Choice Specs, and Night - Blackglasses. But if you can only get one of them, then I have to get Choice Specs off WiFi. :(
