Chapter 1: Boarding
Kai was walking through a long, dark tunnel. He couldn't see, so he had to rely on touch. He heard sounds in the tunnel, but he could not find the source. What they were, he had no idea. The walls began to shake, the ground rumbled, and rocks fell from the top of the tunnel.
The rocks landed on top of him, and he lost consciousness.
Suddenly he woke, drenched in sweat. He'd been having the dream for days now, but he hadn't a clue of what it meant. He pushed the dream out of his mind. It wasn't important today. Today, he was going to get his first Pokémon.
Kai was a boy of 14 years of age. That was the age that all children could get their first Pokemon. He had average-length, silver hair and stood at about five foot five. He had ice-blue eys.
Kai lived on Dramur Island, the only island in a series of five to have a Pokemon Lab. However, the Lab was on the mainland. Kai was on a mini islet, called Sturm Island, that was surrounded by the actual island.
He went down the stairs to greet his mom and eat his breakfast.
"Morning, Mother."
"Good morning, Kai. I bet you're excited?"
"More than anything! I get my first Pokemon today!"
She smiled, knowing all too well how much he had waited for this day.
"Don't forget your money on the counter. You won't be able to get to the mainland without a ferry ride."
"Aww.. Can't I ride on the Lapras today?"
"Not today. Take the ferry and go visit Professor Maple before she gives out all the Pokemon."
At her last few words, Kai jumped. He had almost forgotten that many other people were getting their first Pokemon today too.
"Alright, I'm going now," he said, grabbing the money that his mother had left.
"I love you, sweetie. Make sure to come home and show me your Pokemon when you get it."
"Sure thing, Mother."
So, with the last of his words, he set off for the dock on the island. A decent amount of people were awaiting the ferry, most of which were children his own age.
A young boy approached him. "Hey, Kai. Are you as excited as me?" The boy was nearly jumping up and down with excitement.
"Sure am! What Pokemon are you going to get, Ronan?"
"I'm gonna get a Squirtle! I love them, and when he's a Blastoise, I won't have to take the ferry anymore! What are you gonna get?"
"That's awesome! I'm going to get a Charmander. I love the flames on the end of their tails. Plus, when mine's a Charizard, I'll get to fly anywhere!"
"Wow! I wonder what it's like to fly?"
"Me too! I can't wait."
Moments later, a large ferry approached. A voice came out from an intercom. "All boarding the S.S. Dramur. Our destination is the mainland."
"Come on, Ronan! Let's go!"
The two young friends headed off to the ferry. They were about to become Pokemon Trainers. 'This is going to be great!' thought Kai.
