PREFACE
Long ago, in the Viridian Kingdom, there lived a princess with the gift of the Tear. The Tear was known throughout the Kingdom as a key to call the legendary Pokemon Dragonite to whoever weilded it. It was passed down from princess to princess until Princess Akai held it. She and her Pokemon often visited the Dragonite, and one day was surprised to see her lay a clutch of eggs. Months went by and the seasons changed. The hot summer nights faded to breezy autumn, and the warm weather turned chilly. Akai and the Dragonite became close, so close that when the eggs hatched, Akai recieved the littlest Dratini as a reward for being such a good keeper of the Tear.
Fall turned into winter and the snow made it hard for Akai to see Dragonite, so when she could she took Dratini to its mother. Akai told Dragonite that she knew coming everyday would be hard and dangerous, and to keep Dratini safe until spring. Dragonite agreed and was happy Akai did this, knowing how hard it must be for her. Akai gave a farewell hug to Dratini, thanked Dragonite and promised some sweet bread for her. As Akai returned to the kingdom, the snow that was gently falling suddenly picked up and the rest of winter was a non-stop blizzard. Akai was happy when it finally stopped, and saw the snow melting.
Once spring had come, Akai let all her Pokemon out for a well needed play and prepared the promised treat for her Dragonite and Dratini. Akai got everything ready for her reunion and got a good night's sleep, planning to get up early and spend all day with Dragonite. The sun rose in the sky, making the day new, and Akai rose. She gathered her things and hurried to the cave. She froze in horror, seeing the cave charred black and both Dragonite and Dratini gone. She sent her Pokemon out to search around. After nearly a day of searching, her Altaria found the little Dratini barely alive and barely breathing. She rushed her Pokemon back to her kingdom and got it help.
Later, when Dratini pulled a full recovery, Akai found out that Dragonite was kidnapped by an evil Rayquaza than was recently discovered and released by accident. Several other kingdoms reported that their guardian Pokemon had been kidnapped. Dratini cries a little, but Akai assures it that she will do anything to get Dragonite back. The Tear around her neck begins to grow dim and Dratini gets a little worried. Akai is told to not go looking for the Rayquaza, but later that night, she takes her Rapidash from his stable and rides off into the night, determinded to find Dragonite and the other missing Pokemon.
