View Full Version : LeafGreen Restart

I recently restarted my LeafGreen version. I picked Squirtle for a starter, since I never give him enough love. I wasted half an hour trying, or rather hopoing, for a Female, since the breeding will be a whole lot easier. But, sadly, no... I got a male with a Docile nature (good and neutral). I just wanted to make this thread, so maybe people can help me a little.

My plan to have an early team of Squirtle/Wartortle ; Spearow/Fearow ; Clefairy (if I'm lucky). I want Vulpix for a Fire Pokemon. I thought Electabuzz was in LG, but it was Magmar. :( I'm not sure what Pokemon to use for Electric now, since Pikachu is overused. Jolteon, maybe?

I made a pretty good team that oddly is similar to a fantasy one... Let's see:

Blastoise ; Jolteon ; Ninetails ; Dodrio ; Onix (optional) ; Clefable

That sounds like a good team, so I'll shoot for that. :) Wish me luck.

Good luck Akai. I also restarted my LeafGreen Version in order to regain certain Pokemon. I chose Charizard, however my main team, though short is
Charizard, Raichu, and Vaporeon

It's a good team. I prefer Vaporeon over all the other Eevee-lutions, but I need Jolteon. Out of the starters, Charizard is the most powerful, but his stats are all over the place. Blastoise is more steady.

Ahh.. thanks for the tips and good luck again.

It looks like that you have a well-balanced team, but you shouldn't have Onix, he's really bad in the 3rd gen. If you want a ground-type for your team, then you should try Dugtrio or Marowak. They're both good pokemon that you can find early on (Diglett in Diglett cave, Cubone in Lavender Tower... or whatever its called).

I did say Onix was optional. I've never had Marowak. I may try him out. >:3 I will own this game.

Blastoise ; Jolteon ; Ninetails ; Dodrio ; Onix (optional) ; Clefable

Personally, to me, that team wouldn't be that strong. ^^; Jolteon isn't that strong, and he wouldn't really be able to fight against tougher monsters (I would personally switch him with Raichu, but it's your choice). Onix wouldn't be able to do much, until he became a Steelix, but you couldn't do that very early unless you had another source. Clefable is very useful in DP, but sadly, it can't do much in the earlier generations. I would personally replace it with something more wild and...fun! XD It's your choice, though.

Good luck!

:( Thanks for the critisizing. Clefable is good. I may replace it with Snorlax. It depends.

Shiny Espeon
01-22-2008, 09:46 PM
Snorlax is a good replacement. I would consider it, since you're going to be fighting it anyway....^^

Or, you can replace Clefable with a totally random Pokemon that you want to use. I would, lol!

Wow, nice team, actually. I just restarted my FireRed version yesterday, so I know what you're going through. XP

If you don't want to use Jolteon, you could try Magnemite. It may be a little eh, but as a magneton, I think it pwns. Or Voltorb. Personally, some of my best experiences were with a strong Electrode at my side. XP

I tried to go with Clefairy, but I ended up deleting the file and I never saw where it went. Maybe I'll do that this time, too. I know it learns a really good steel move at level 40+ that I wanted to try out. But if you want a more steady normal type, I recomend Wigglytuff (jigglypuff are avaliable early in-game still, I believe) or Tauros, but those are a PAIN to catch in the Safarai Zone. Friggin things.....

Well, good luck with the new game!

I recommend dugtrio over onix, because any onix under level 20 can be beaten with a single bubble or absorb attack, because of its extensive weakness to them. However, if you get a steelix out of it, it'd be great. As for jolteon, its okay, though as SE said, I would usually go with raichu, though the best would be Magnemite. As for dodrio, great choice, though it can take a while to get a duduo. As for clefairy, I recommend replacing it with a Primape, because that would strengthen you ability on steel and normal types, which you lack right now

The only thing I don't like is the low HP on Raichu. Well, I am just getting started. Give me a week and let see where I am. ;)

i bought leafgreen (i used to play firered) after a friend told me that there r more fire pokemon in leafgreen anyway i managed to get out of the victory road but im too far from defeating the elite four (Akai knows about my team LOL). and yes Raichu is nice but she has the lowest HP in my team. Clefairy is pretty useful, i think, now i have it as a clefable and she is pretty good too

:D My team:

Squirtle (Lv15) ; Spearow (Lv16)

I haven't even made it to Viridian Forest. I rock out loud!

Haha. No. I will do it now though. I've been lax on my game play today sadly. =/

Alexi8945
01-24-2008, 10:23 AM
I know what you mean. My FireRed is still at that area before fighting your rival on Route 22.

...Hecka just thought of something. If you don't want to stick around with rock/ground (Onix, Geodude) you could try Nidoran male. Nidoking is a great substutute!

Akai
01-24-2008, 11:13 AM
I actually looked into that, and Nidoqueen is better than Nidoking, by two stats. I do like Nidoking though, and that Poison trait is just a bonus. I need to watch out for Psychic attacks. Haha.

BTW- I caught a Caterpie. I'm gonna have a Butterfree! (Not for long.)

Shiny Espeon
01-27-2008, 01:54 AM
Ah. Butterfree. That will be helpful while you've just started the game, but I would say that you could deposit it as soon as you got the 1st badge (or sooner, since you can beat Brock with the grass starter). ^^

Akai
01-27-2008, 02:31 AM
Yeah. I'm going to raise it to 15-20 and then boot him for Nidoran(M).

Fearow (24) ((F)) - Peck ; Pursuit ; Leer ; Fury Attack

Clefairy (24) ((F) - Pound ; Doubleslap ; Minimize ; Sing

Please rate my team for an IN GAME USE ONLY. I know I'm going to keep the first four. I'm unsure about Pikachu yet, but if you have any good Electric Pokemon in mind, please tell. I will also get a Vulpix, when I can. I've been playing a lot over the weekend, and leveled up my Pokemon a lot, and really want some feedback.

Wow. With only 1 badge that's great. Way to go Akai.

For me Butterfree was really useful in that he alone got me my first gym badge. After that I went on from there. Now I have:

Raichu lv. 59
Charizard lv. 54
Vaporeon lv. 53 as my team.

Akai

Peachy keen, jellybean. I'm going to get all my Pokemon to Lv25 before leaving the cave (maybe Pikachu) and then try to get them to Lv30 after battling all the people on Nugget Bridge and beyond. I'm going to keep Butterfree for Flash. I need to decide if I want to waste Cut on one of my keepers.

Pokemaster
02-04-2008, 05:02 PM
Well, if you do, then you can just later delete it in Fuschia City.

Akai
02-04-2008, 05:05 PM
Hmm.. I can. Thanks. But still, which one? I'm thinking either Nidorina or Clefairy.

Shiny Espeon

I would teach cut to Clefairy. STAB will improve the attack a bit. =D

Have you ever beat the game traded all your good pokemon to a different one. start over get the pokemon back and keep them in your cpu until yo can use them it works pretty well.

Alexi8945
02-04-2008, 10:07 PM
But where's the fun in that?

If Akai lacks an HM slave, then Alexi agrees with SE. Cut the Clefairy...I mean, teach Cut to Clefairy. :D

zaptos
02-04-2008, 10:16 PM
well it is fun you still work your way up. ok heres an example you have 6 level 50s and you trade them. you put them in your pc all the way until you can train lv. 50s and then get them and keep playing you just have to try it it still is fun.

Akai

Good to know. I was leaning to Clefairy, since it doesn't learn a lot of good attacks.

Please keep on topic, and actually read the previous posts. This thread it called LEAFGREEN RESTART, meaning starting over from squaure one. If you saw my team, none are good for trade yet.

I don't really like Clefairy, and I prefer Wigglytuff because of its better stats, but I don't think that you should teach it Cut. Even though it is a STAB move, it lacks power, and Clefairy has a bad Attack stat. If you want a STAB move, then you should use Return later. For now, you should use Strength.

You really need an HM slave in the game. I'd suggest Krabby or Psyduck. If you really need Cut, then use Krabby.

Akai
02-06-2008, 05:31 PM
Well... I kinda already have Clefairy a place in my team. This is only IN GAME, remember.

HobbesI
02-06-2008, 05:35 PM
Yes, I know it's In-game. It's just the times when I've put an HM on one of my actual battling pokemon, it turns out... very low damage. I was just saying that I liked Wigglytuff better, and the only real damaging move that Clefairy learns is Meteor Mash.

Akai
02-06-2008, 05:40 PM
In my books, Wigglytuff sucks in everything but HP. I'm going to evolve Clefairy, don't worry. But nevermind. Clefairy can't learn Cut. How about Rhydon for a Rock-Ground Pokemon? His stats are good. I'll just find a slave for Cut.

HobbesI
02-06-2008, 07:44 PM
Rhydon sounds good. It's got good stats, and his main role is just to pummel the opponent with high-damaging moves until they're dead.

About Wigglytuff, I like him because he's got a massive HP stat. With his HP stat, he can easily survive non-STAB blows and use counter to... counter them. He's a good wall.

Akai
02-06-2008, 09:35 PM
What about Snorlax? He's good, I know. His stats... AWESOME. He may replace Clefairy.

Alexi8945
02-07-2008, 12:13 AM
I say go for Snorlax. :D ;) It is better than Clefairy all around. *nod*

Akai
02-07-2008, 12:39 AM
I'll name it Alexi and love it forever and always. *hugs squishy Pokemon* Whee.

http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee109/LittleRedCaboose/Snore-Final.gif

So now... If I train and train and train... I'll have Blastoise, Ninetails, Snorlax, Rhydon, Fearow, and ... Raichu or Jolteon. I may go for Jolty for the Speed.

Alexi8945
02-07-2008, 12:45 AM
:D <3

Jolteon would be more fun, I think, and it does pwn Raichu. :D You have a pretty sweet team going on there.

Akai
02-07-2008, 12:58 AM
Thanks. I'll need to play. I've gotten lazy. :( I'll update in a few days.

HobbesI
02-07-2008, 05:12 PM
Yes, Jolteon is a lot better then Raichu, and Snorlax is a lot better then Clefairy. That looks like a good final team you've got.
