Here's this week's pokemon of the week, Gallade. please discuss what you think below.

Gallade

As the physical version of Gardevior, Gallade lives up to the hype on its strength. It’s a powerful pokemon with many different physical attacks. Originating from a special pokemon, Gallade also has many different special type moves that might help it out. The downside to Gallade is that its speed lacks a lot. Overall Gallade is one very powerful pokemon. Here’s a little heads up. The move Bulk Up won’t be included any of the moveset but if you can find a place to add it in, do it.

All Rounder

Item: Choice Band/ Expert Belt
Nature: Jolly

Attacks:
Earthquake
Psycho Cut
Shadow Sneak/ Stone Edge
Leaf Blade/ Night Slash/ Brick Break/ Close Combat/ Aerial Ace/ X-Scissor/ Poison Jab

I know I’ve given you a lot of options but with the movepool Gallade has, its worth it. The first thing you might ask is why isn’t Close Combat one of those must have moves. My reason is that Close Combat’s downside is too big of a risk. However if you want to place it in, do so at your own risk. A fairly basic moveset. Shadow Sneak should probably be in there to give Gallade an option against psychic pokemon but Stone Edge will cover on of Gallade’s main weaknesses. It’s last move is hard to choose and I’m not going to try and influence your decision.

Swords Dance Sweeper

Item: Leftovers
Nature: Jolly

Attacks:
Swords Dance
Psycho Cut/ Brick Break/ Close Combat/ Earthquake/ Stone Edge/ Leaf Blade/ Shadow Sneak
Psycho Cut/ Brick Break/ Close Combat/ Earthquake/ Stone Edge/ Leaf Blade/ Shadow Sneak
Psycho Cut/ Brick Break/ Close Combat/ Earthquake/ Stone Edge/ Leaf Blade/ Shadow Sneak

A Swords Dancing version of Gallade. Obviously Swords Dance is necessary. Everything else is for coverage and sweeping. If however you do put in a fighting move and Earthquake, watch out for those popular ghost pokemon with the Levitate ability. Again Gallade loses potential with its quite low speed and against damaging sweepers like Salamence, that presents a problem. That’s why Jolly nature is there to give Gallade some hope of out running more popular and faster sweepers. With an already devastatingly high attack power, a successful Swords Dance will give you opponent quite a lot of trouble.

Special Sweeper

Item: Life Orb
Nature: Modest

Attacks:
Calm Mind
Thunderbolt
Psychic
Focus Blast

Despite one of its types being a special one, Gallade has a poor special attack stat. That’s why I’ve given it Calm Mind with a Modest nature, simply on the fact that it needs it. The rest of the moves are just coverage moves. A very under strengthed Gallade and should probably only be used when just having fun with non-serious sides against friends.

Rating: 6/10

Unique

Item: Leftovers
Nature: Brave

Attacks:
Thunder Wave/ Hypnosis/ Willo Wisp
Charm/ Confuse Ray
Substitute
Focus Punch

Another one of those fool around sets but wither one of those first moves should be looked at more carefully as they can help greatly strengthen Gallade. Anyway this set basically not only tries to take care of Gallade’s low speed with its Brave nature but also tries to create opportunities with the status problem moves. Willo Wisp will probably be the least helpful maybe followed by Thunder Wave. The second move is just to weaken the opponent and try to set up some more time for Gallade. The last two moves create a combo that if used correctly and maybe with a bit of luck, gets away a very powerful Focus Punch attack.

Which episode? I think I missed him? Aww. :(
I like Gallade. Psychic-Fighting is an interesting combination, and Gallade looks so cool.

I can't wait for the episode where Gardevoir and Gallade are like Romeo and Juliet, and Brock "helps" them with his ... expert opinion? Haha.

Gallade is cool! I taught mine thunderpunch and firepunch (I taught it as a kirlia in emerald, then traded to pearl)
