Appreciate the quality of the dub

A lot of fans complain about the dub and say that 4Kids/Pokemon USA do a horrible job with it. Well you know what, you should be glad that they at least spend the money to paint over signs and make the cartoon American. You know what Japan does when they dub a cartoon from America like DuckTales? They simply voice over the episode in Japanese and don't change any of the animations. The lip flaps don't match the speech at all and singing in English is left in. The bottom line is that the dub isn't that bad in my opinion. What are everyone else's thoughts?

Yeah. We were that bad too, believe it or not. If you've the old Godzilla movies, most of the lips don't match, and that freaked me out when I was little. I watched a few specials on the history of Godzilla, you know, for like an anniversary thing, and we dubbed horribly, adding in words that matched the lips, like random words. I think I saw something where the word 'banana' was put in, only because it fitted.

I don't mind the dubs. If everyone hates it, watch the subs, and stop crying.

The dub wasn't bad until I gave up watching the PUSA dub for BF and D/P. That was when I kinda reverted to watching it RAW and found it was much more delightful.

Oh and, not all signs were always changed. xD
They certainly do have weird fonts for words though.

Something that has changed is how sometimes the new dub uses strange words. Also no offense or anything but the voice acting for Ash is sometimes off but its still a great job. After all, they did make pokemon more popular.

lol appreciate the quality ? what quality ? the dub is very bad and ruines the originality in things. like changing the music for instance other animes leave the original tracks in their animes and pokemon has taken the main theme song away since day one and in d/p they changed alot of the background music. also changing of voice actors something a japanese version would NEVER do i repeat NEVER do unless someone died. also editing out and completely skipping over some eppisodes because they dont fit the 5-6 age catigory of viewability.

see other animes and even cartoons have guns but 4kids was crappy and thought kids couldn't handle that so lets just through away legend of dratini and oh kids cant handle boob jokes there goes holiday at alcapulco. another problem is cultural ignorance for example changing the color of jinx because people in the western world seem to think everything has the same meaning as what they think it has. jinx is based on the ganguro fashion of the time which was having tan dark skin and blonde hair. western culture only see's black face. another of my issuses with the dub is it's lack of mature content such as drinking which has happened in a few eppisodes one where tr are drinking "spring water" and gets dru....i mean loopy this was in the hoenn block of eppisodes.

so to sum up my point i think americanization of an anime makes it loose its natural essance and makes for a lack of appreciation for the serise itself. i cannot appreciate a mockery of artisitc beauty.
