OMG!! THE FAN-ART FORUM WENT POOF! -dies-

Anyway, I am here for a spriting tutorial for anybody who wants it. Just a question first, would I be able to double-post for the different spriting techniques (hybrids, cosplayers, lineless, pixel-overs, etc.)?

I'll just give a quick hybrid tutorial first:

Step One: Choose two sprites that you would like to combine. Zoom in 8 times using the magnifying glass tool. Be sure that the transparency feature is selected.

Step Two: Decide which sprite you would like to use as the base. This is the one that you will add features from the other one to.

Step Three: Take features from the other Pokemon (we'll call it the provider) and set them aside. Use the selection tool to grab parts, then right click on the selected part. Hold down the keys Control (Ctrl) and V at the same time to paste the parts. Zoom in and erase the parts you don't need.

Step Four: Use the selection tool to roughly add the provider's parts to the base. You can delete parts of the base if you need to.

Step Five: Use the eyedropper tool to choose colors from the base. Apply the colors in the proper spots to the provider's parts so that the sprite is the color of the base all over.

Step Six: If you'd like, you can change the position of some of the parts of the base. Use the selection tool, then copy and paste to move it around.

Well, I hope that helped a bit... I was kinda vague on the recoloring part... =/

I don't know what happened to the Art forum either. O.O;

Yeah, you can. It's a tutorial, so go wild. ^^ Thanks for making one.

No problem. Lemme gather myself and I shall make a recolor tutorial.

BTW 3speon, we are at such a lack of users, that I think most mods (well, I'm not sure about Brandon, and I'm pretty sure Rain Tiger goes for it) won't infract for anything minor, but merely warn. Well, at least I do that. For instance, pokemaster double posted a lot, but he is a great user we need, so I'm giving him a few chances for the minor things. If he started spaming, it would be a different story.

Also, thanks for the thread. I know pokemaster wanted to get into it, and I've been trying some stuff, so it should be good. Keep it up. Now out of curiosity (a lot of people are getting used to that phrase), how'd you learn to do this stuff?

Well, out of curiosity (;]), I started with Cave of Dragonflies. They had a bunch of buttons on the sidebar that led to other sites. I went to Pokemon Chibi, where there were a couple spriting tutorials. Curiosity got the better of me, although it was well past midnight, I clicked on the spriting link. It led me to their page, where I copied a couple techniques.

"This is pretty cool," I thought. I don't know if it was them, or another site after them that had the link to PokeZam, but I came here. I went to the FanArt forum, where Erika's shop caught my eye. She was spriting, something I had just learned how to do, except she was a lot better.

I wanted to 'hone my skills', so I joined, and the rest, as they say, is history. ;]

Recolor Tutorial

Step One: Choose the two Pokemon that you would like to recolor.

Step Two: Zoom in 8x with the magnifying glass tool.

Step Three: Decide which Pokemon you would like to be recolored.

Step Four: Pay special attention to the other Pokemon. Use the eyedropper tool to make a palette of colors in value order, lightest to darkest.

Step Five: Make a palette of colors for the Pokemon that will be recolored.
http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s238/PigturePurrfect/Recolor6-1.png

Step Six: Lay the two palettes side-by-side, so you can compare the lightest to lightest and darkest to darkest, etc. Match the lightest of the other Pokemon's palette to the lightest of the Pokemon to be recolored. Use the eyedropper tool with the pencil or fill bucket tool to fill the areas of the Pokemon to be recolored to match the palette's order.

Step Seven: Sit back and enjoy your work!

Thanks for the Compliment Shiny R. And yeah I really like spriting but haven't known how to sprite so I also thank you for the thread 3speon.

Aww! Chu're awesome! It's all done now, so anyone who learns with visuals should be able to get it.

Hm. Well it is a Sprite Tutorial thread.

Only as long if it's spriting, then it's fine.

It's for making my PokePets and making your own trainer cards (my way)... would that qualify? You do use sprites, in a way.
