"The short story legacy of an amateur awesome flying Pikachu".

Chapter 1: Flight Pikachu Down

“Roselia...how do you laugh like that?”

Meim was absolutely baffled. Her newly caught Pokemon was very, very odd…As a matter of fact though, her Swablu was strange as well. Both her Pokemon were bizarre, and Meim wasn’t the average 12-year old girl either. She let out a playful sigh, and then stood up from her squatting position on the hard, dirty ground.

“Ok….let’s get going, guys! Mountain Coronet isn’t that far from where we are.”

With that, trainer and Pokemon continued on their journey to greatness. The bright sunlight of Sinnoh poured down on them, giving them an unwanted, uneven tan. However, the cool crisp breeze of Route 205 uplifted their spirits and cooled them down a bit. Every now and then they would relieve themselves by splashing cold, cool drinking water on their faces. A summer day in Sinnoh surely was something special. The trainer enjoyed it.

Meim wore a simple black shirt with a purple shirt over that. She also wore black, short jeans. Obsidian, curly hair was thrown into a ponytail, and a matching cap was crowned atop her head. Meim was 12 years old, and an amateur at Pokemon. Her goal in life was to become the best Pokemon Coordinator, but she seemed to be doing much better in the action of being a Pokemon trainer. She only had two Pokemon, her Swablu and of course her hysterical Roselia. Swablu was given to her as a gift when she left Eterna City, her home, to become a Pokemon trainer. Along the way, she had caught Roselia. Yes, she was an amateur at Pokemon, but she was ok with that. She was having fun so far.

“Honestly, you two manage to do the craziest things.” Meim directed her statement to her two Pokemon as they followed her obediently. Roselia and Swablu can only laugh their odd, happy chuckle once again. Meim grinned and looked down the path, as if studying the tan-colored dirt.

“Really, I’ve seen the strangest things before, but never-!!” The trainer couldn’t finish her sentence. It appeared as if Meim’s words weren’t true, for at that exact moment, something had crashed straight out of the sky and onto her head with brute force.

“What the?!” The trainer questioned to nobody as she herself crashed to the ground, side first. A cloud of dust popped up where she made contact with the ground. Roselia and Swablu were by her trainer immediately, crowding over her.

“Guys, move over!” Meim commanded rather harshly as she shooed her friends away from her startled face. Swablu, as well as Roselia, moved away quickly.

Meim first checked to see if she wasn’t dead from simply falling to the ground, and then she noticed the ball of yellow fuzz on her chest.

“What is this?” The trainer answered her own question by sitting up, and regaining her momentarily lost sanity.

The little yellow bundle was warm, and it felt soft yet smooth. It didn’t weight too much either. Meim was shocked when she felt that the small ball was breathing. She was stupefied when the ball unrolled itself, and became an injured, un-conscious Pikachu!

Great FanFic. Good description and everything. I also like the title... um... box? Well anyways, It seems like this is sort of following off from that other fanfic I faintly remember you wrote a long time ago... the one with two chapters. Ah, I forgot what it was called.

I can't wait until the next chapter comes...

Oh, you mean the "Grass Types are Poisonous~" story. Yes, this is following it, and this is after Roselia is caught (clearly). You have an excellent memory. ^^

Thanks. The next chapter should be coming in a few days or so.

I like your idea of "abnormal" Pokémon - it means you can develop the plot in any direction you like! Keep it up.

Chapter 2: A Pilot's Dream
“Oh dear,” Meim said with care as she held the Pikachu in her lap. Yes, the electric Pokemon was damaged badly. Several harsh scratches were scattered across its body, and a large bruise was stapled on top of the Pokemon’s head. Meim knew that the Pikachu had fallen on her from the sky, but what exactly was a Pikachu doing in the clouds?

Meim sighed and rose from the ground, the sleeping Pokemon cradled in her soft hands. The two remaining Pokemon watched their trainer with careful eyes.

“Guys….we have to help this poor Pikachu.” She said truthfully. She couldn’t help seeing a Pokemon hurt like this. Roselia and Swablu replied to their trainer’s modesty by nodding and crying out happily.

Meim automatically smiled at her Pokemon, and then got her medical supplies out of her bag. Curing a Pikachu with wounds like this would take more than kissing the injuries away.

***

“Roselia, hand me the super potion,” Meim stated quietly to the Pokemon sitting beside her. Roselia immediately gave her trainer the healing item, watching with intent eyes at what she was doing. Swablu was eyeing Meim and the Pikachu as well with gleaming eyes.

Pikachu was laid out across a soft, blue blanket Meim had provided. The electric Pokemon’s eyes were closed peacefully, while the chest of Pikachu was rising and falling slowly and surely. Pikachu was peaceful for now, sleeping soundly while Meim cured her. (A dent in the tip of the tail proved this.)

Pikachu had reasons to be peaceful, for all the major injuries had been cured. The Pokemon looked funny, having bandages and band-aids all over it, but that didn’t matter. The sun was out while the wind blew soft breezes that carried the sweet scent of flowers. It was indeed a peaceful moment, perfect for healing.

“Done,” Meim had announced a few long minutes later. The trainer wiped sweat from her brow as she inspected her patient.

Pikachu was fully cured now. The only memoirs of what seemed to be a foolish mistake were bandages and, of course, great band-aids.

“Great,” Meim said out loud, while she complimented herself on a wonderful job mentally.

Swablu and Roselia got up to look closer at Pikachu. Meim allowed them to, hoping they wouldn’t wake the Pokemon up.

She was wrong, for the minute the Pokemon saw the healed Pikachu, they began to shriek in happiness. Meim’s once happy expression immediately turned into worry as she tried to quiet her ecstatic Pokemon.

They hushed down automatically at their trainer’s notions, but it was too late.

Pikachu had awoken, and was now sitting up atop the blanket. Her wide eyes were staring straight at Meim, with a smile plastered across her bright face.

“Pika-pika!” The Pokemon exclaimed happily with an energetic, high squeak. Pikachu waved her chubby left hand, and that was the exact moment the Pokemon noticed her clean bandages. Pikachu took a moment to look over her recent injuries, and then looked over at her saviors. The Pokemon classified them as “Safe” as she hesitantly stood up, and began to waddle over to the rest of the group. The injuries seemed to take effect, for Pikachu was slow on her movements.

“Pikachu!” The Pokemon exclaimed as it looked up at Meim with gleaming eyes. The generosity and cuteness in Pikachu’s eyes immediately made Meim bend down to eye level with Pikachu.

Being able to stare into the Pokemon’s eyes was amazing. Childish, shiny orbs of eyes held something like magic in it, while a bright, large smile held thankfulness in it. Added with a bright, happy face, this Pokemon was cuter than a baby to Meim.

“Pika, Pika, chu!” She exclaimed as she began to nudge the trainer’s leg affectionately. The two other Pokemon almost gagged at this.

“Aww….you’re welcome. Healing you was easy!” Meim smiled as she replied back to the Pokemon’s thank-you.

“May you tell me why you came crashing from the sky, though?” The trainer asked, as if expecting a human response.

“Pika-pika-pika chu!” The Pikachu spoke, giving her answer to a dumbfounded trainer.

“What….guys, can you translate?” Meim asked, cheeks glowing a slight red as she tried to understand the electric Pokemon.

At giving the chance to have attention, the two jealous Pokemon immediately got up from the ground to help their trainer. Once in front of her, they began to do strange motions with their body.

Roselia held both her skinny, grassy arms out, each one facing another side. The grass Pokemon made an extremely odd noise from her petite lips, a sound that the trainer questioned even more.

Swablu was slightly stranger. The cloud Pokemon lifted itself off the ground with puffy wings, elevating herself to Meim’s eye level. She then flipped over, and dove straight down.

Both Pokemon continued this nonsense for a while, trying to make the trainer understand. Pikachu watched, giggling slightly.

“You’re trying to say that….Pikachu wanted to be a pilot, so she dove off of a rock?”

Meim had tried desperately to understand the two mimes. She now understood perfectly, but she wished she didn’t.

“What?! That’s like committing suicide!” She exclaimed to Pikachu in a caring voice.

“Pika-pika-pika-pichu!” Pikachu exclaimed back, wishing that this naïve trainer understood her more.

In her own attempt to mime, Pikachu made waving notions, flinging her chubby, yellow arms through the air while looking up towards the now cloudy, blue sky. Meim knew what Pikachu was saying without using her Pokemon to understand.

“You have a dream to fly…..yet you can’t fly! You’re just going to get hurt!” Meim exclaimed, now emotionally tied to the Pikachu.

“Pika! Pik-Pikachu!” The Pokemon had spat out the words this time, clearly desperate for her savior to understand. Roselia and Swablu joined in the hysteria, waving their arms in the air too.

Meim took a minute to think, her eyes facing the tan ground. She had a dream of her own, trying to become a great Pokemon trainer and coordinator. If her dream was going to come true, then Pikachu’s dream was going to come true as well. After a few minutes, she snapped her head back up and shouted,

“We’ll help you fly, Pikachu-you just wait. Soon, you’ll be soaring through the air! I don’t know how though!” The Pokemon cheered happily. Pikachu smiled jubilantly at the generous trainer. Meim smiled, and began to think.

Chapter 3: I’m My Own Pilot

“I…hope…this…works…” Meim whispered hopeful words as she stared at an insane Pikachu.

The electric Pokemon looked ridiculous. Not only were several bandages still wrapped around the Pokemon’s body, but a new look was added as well. Pikachu now had several balloon strings tied around her chubby waist. At the end of those yarn strings were several shiny, brightly colored balloons, inflated to the fullest. Pikachu smiled at the trainer that was staring at her with worried eyes.

“Oh man,” Meim muttered to herself once more as she looked down from the large hill they were standing on. There was absolutely nothing to break Pikachu’s fall if she got unlucky, and jumping off of a hill with balloons tied to your waist wasn’t exactly sane.

Roselia and Swablu looked proudly at the electric Pokemon as she inched forward to the rocky edge. Meim prayed for the Pokemon, and hopefully Swablu could save Pikachu if she did start falling. That wasn’t a guarantee though.

“Be safe Pikachu!” Meim finally yelled out as the electric type prepared to dive off into pits of hell.

Pikachu could only smile back. Small beaded eyes met brown worried ones for a minute, and then Pikachu let herself fall back…

***

Meim and her Pokemon carefully ambled along the rocky hill, watching Pikachu with interest. She looked absolutely strange with balloons tied to her, but whatever the odds, she was floating.

Pikachu wasn’t flying, and this depressed Meim as she saw a group of sharp, rocky spikes in the distance. She couldn’t believe her eyes as she saw that Pikachu was heading straight toward the death trap.

“How does that happen?” Meim questioned out loud in a shaky voice as she began to run closer to where Pikachu was. Her Pokemon, of course, waddled behind her like loyal puppies.

The group finally neared Pikachu, who was floating only but a few feet away. No matter how hard Meim tried, so couldn’t get any closer. Pikachu cried out happily as she saw Meim a yard away. The trainer didn’t have the same expression.

“Pikachu! Come back here now!” She yelled out in a hoarse voice.

Pikachu stared back at her for a minute before carefully shaking herself to Meim’s side. The Pokemon tried hard to shift its weight, and the effort was touching. However, Pikachu simply couldn’t get herself back to the trainer.

“Dang,” Meim whispered under her breath. The rocks were dangerously close, and she regretted what she was about to do.

Completely insane, she edged off the hill she was standing on. Her left foot was on the very edge of the rock formation, which caused several pebbles to tumble out to a hard landing. She gulped, her heart skipping beats. Roselia and Swablu seemed to read her mind, and they secured her right foot by clutching it tightly. Meim flashed a nervous smile to her Pokemon, before beckoning the electric Pokemon.

“Come on,” She muttered to Pikachu, trying not to sound like the nervous wreck she was.

Pikachu, who was now a few inches away from her, easily floated towards Meim’s arms. The trainer was relieved as Pikachu flew into her arms. Roselia and Swablu squeaked with joy. Meim smiled, and Pikachu laughed.

Luck seemed to be against them that day as the balloons on Pikachu’s waist suddenly all popped. Startled, Pikachu let out an accidental thundershock. Roselia and Swablu, who had attached themselves to Meim, were naturally shocked and screamed loudly. Meim, who was still on the edge of the hill, was scared and lost her balance.

Nothing could save them as they all tumbled off the hill.

***

“Everybody ok?” Meim asked blandly as she slowly lifted herself off the moist ground they were now on.

Luckily, it had appeared that everybody had survived the crash by landing on the soft, grassy ground they were now scattered on. Swablu and Roselia seemed to enjoy the ride as they began to laugh in their odd way. Pikachu had curled up into a ball, (a smart Pokemon she was) and now she began to unroll herself. Meim seemed to have a few scratches here and there, but nothing harsh.

The odd group had landed in a forest. The sun was beginning to set, and its mystic orange light streamed through the thick trees. A few Tailow and Swellow hummed their songs, and all was peaceful as of now.

Meim sighed before flashing a hopeful smiled towards Pikachu.

“Well…that was a fun attempt, but it didn’t get you flying. Those balloons were the only idea I had…what should we do now?” She asked the Pikachu.

The electric rat seemed to be out of ideas as well. She slumped on the ground, and let out a playful sigh. She wanted to fly, yet she seemed to be too tired to do so…

Suddenly, the two other Pokemon jumped on Meim. Startled, she crashed down to the ground, somewhat of a replay of earlier. They grasped her backpack with brute force, and disregarded the trainer’s displease. It was as if they were robbing her.

“What are you guys doing?” She finally asked as she shook her Pokemon off her. She slowly stood, and watched what they were doing within the bulging contents of her small bag. They fiddled around in it for a few long moments, as if that much space was really inside her black backpack.

They finally struggled to pull out her foldable bicycle. It was a classical Acro bike, perfect for technical rides. Swablu and Roselia alike never understood how a bicycle could fit into a bag, but Meim never seemed to question the bike’s oddity.

“What are we supposed to do with that?” She asked, this time fully expecting to get a miming answer.

Roselia stood up, and Swablu floated beside her. Pikachu also waddled towards the scene. Together, the triplets put on an excellent show for Meim. They waved their arms in the air, extended their arms, and attempted to ride the bicycle while waving their arms midair. Meim soon caught on.

“A flying bike. You want us to attempt to make a flying bike,” Meim’s voice was dry, and was more of a statement than a question.

The Pokemon simply nodded back at her.

Meim smiled, and began to draw dangerous ideas on the board that was her mind.

I agree, great chapter!

Just one thing: "Pikachu" means "electric mouse" in japanese, so calling her an electric rat is technically a little offending!

Apart from that, great story, and as 3speon says, next please!
