Please be honest about this. I want the staff to honestly compare PokeZam to all the other English Pokemon sites on the Internet and say where it is right now. Compare it to sites like Bulbagarden, Psypoke, Serebii.net, PokeDream, PokeNightmare, etc. Compare it in terms of traffic, forum activity, content, news, etc. Like when the average fan thinks of Pokemon, have they ever heard of PokeZam? This is just for my own curiosity.

I think most people think of Serebii when they think of Pokemon sites. We can make ourselves stand out and that's why I'm such a perfectionist on quality with my videos (hence the camera and capture card situation) and with the ZamCast (examples include switching to Skype and banning Yisrolik for his poor attitude).

If you look at my changes topic, you'll see some of what I think. We were held back. We didn't know as much as we know now. I didn't know you or about the APCC. So we're trying to play catch-up and eventually we will be up there with Serebii.

I see it as this. There's SPP and then there's everyone else.

However, do realize that we have a good team going here. Other Pokemon Communities are becoming famous for all the wrong reasons. For Bulbagarden, it would be SOVA and for PPN it would be his criminal record.

When comparing PokeZam to Bulbagarden though, there's no comparison. You aren't trying to fuel a sinking ship. Bulbagarden is. Serebii turns a profit. Bulbagarden does not. They are just able to cover costs and get by. Archaic has to work a full time job AND ask for donations. SPP is Joe's job, he built it and that's him.

You say you get a lot of money from ads Alakazam so I'd say this site is successful.

So in summary. Basically, we're playing catch-up. We will succeed though we need to give people incentives as to why we are unique.

Compared to Psypoke/Serebii, we are a piece of candy versus a 7-course meal.

However, that's just because people don't know about Pokezam yet. They don't know about all the great info the site has, and the nice people on the forums.

Pokezam is on a great track, and if we continue on this successful path, we'll be really big someday.

That right there is what I like to hear. (I agree with the first part of the post as well, I just didn't want to quote it for the point I was making).

In terms of forum activity, PokéZam is definitely a large leap behind the "big" Pokémon forums. I don't think this, or any other site, will ever compete head to head with Serebii. The forums might be a complete crapfest, but you can't beat the site for content. It also has a nice, simple layout which is easy to gather info from, which is a nice bonus when you're in a hurry to find something.

Most other sites, though, don't have too much between them, really. PPN was always one of the biggest, but I hated that site, despite being staff on the forums. It was an ugly, cluttered site that was completely plastered in ads that took an age to load.

PokéZam is obviously currently bearing less site content at the moment, since it's smaller and has less staff working on it. But hopefully the content it is currently lacking will gradually be added.

On the current news side, I don't think there can be many complaints there. News is being added on quite a regular basis and I can't imagine too many sites having much more news content to consistently be adding that this site doesn't.

I think the main key here is to generate increased activity in the forum as the forum is definitely PokéZam's weak point.

We had the idea thread, which is now deleted, where I offered a bunch of suggestions and stuff to try to improve the forum, and none of them were done. Whether they were dismissed or just completely ignored, I don't know, but I genuinely thought they would definitely improve the forum.

I got rid of the idea thread because it had turned into a lot of ranting. You did have some good ideas regarding more aspects on competitive battling and such. Now that there's less ranting, I shall recreate the thread.
